Update iDrive
Hi,
i just checked for updates to my car on www.bmw.com/update -entered my VIN -got an update link -downloaded -copied to USB -put USB in car -went to iDrive settings -> Software Update -car responds the software is incompatible Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions? |

I have no idea. Possibly the database behind that legacy site only has old VINs and any new VINs incorrectly get assigned the latest version it has. Pure speculation as only BMW can answer this.

Im currently on TB-005.012.001 MB-005.012.001 But I managed to update the maps tonight to 2018-01, available on BMW website... massive file ... 29GB for Europe maps. Just another quick question, I can play .MKV movies from the USB but how do I pause and skip? any ideas... |

Mine's a November build and that's how it came from the factory. On my E 91 I updated the telephone and multimedia software several times until they stopped offering upgrades. Note that it's not I drive software that is upgraded only telephone and multimedia features. Mainly used to ensure compatibility with newer phones.

That's actually not what's happening. That website used to deal with device driver file updates prior to iDrive 6. Just a completely different website that's not been updated.

There's a specific piece of software that handles the USB map updates called download manager. Get it from the connected drive portal.
I think however that you are restricted to one area download. In the uk it's Europe only |
