DRL has anybody changed the modules?

Hi all, have lci 550, wondering if anybody has ordered the modules from aliexpress or other sites to change the drl's to yellow or the rgb one with the Bluetooth module. If so how difficult was it and how do you like it?

TIA

Hi,
Did you ever end up doing it? And if so how was it? Did you have to take the front bumper off or were you able to access the module from the wheel panel??

What year do you have? For LCI's, the modules are in the actual headlight. There's only one place I know of that can change them and you have to send your stock headlights to them to open them up change the module and then they reseal your headlights and send them back to you. You won't have a car for 4 weeks.

Yeah it seems like some have missed that this is being asked for LCI lol Bayoptics charges $1k for this because of needing to open the headlights and $1300 if you want new lenses in the process. Very different from the DRL module on the bottom of pre-LCI. hope none of the LCI guys waste their money thinking those will work for them

Yup I most def wasted my money then. I tried to look up images of the headlights and thought I saw the module box on the outside. I didn’t realize bayoptics were actually opening and resealing the headlights. Couldn’t find more info on line or on forums before purchase and thought it would be a project I could do. Def out of my expertise. Thanks for the info though guys.

Looking at photos of the base LED headlights, they do seem to have a DRL module on the bottom like the ICONs do. RealOEM does list them as different part numbers though.

The S552A code is the ICON lights. So there's an ICON set, which is specific to left and right. The DRL module for non ICONs are the same for both sides. Knowing that they are different part numbers, I can't say whether different DRL modules will work for non ICON lights

So I’ve done the conversion. You can get to the outer drl. Front the back of the light the module is easy to replace, for the inner drl I had to open my lights. Ordered some new lenses off eBay, and put them back together they been perfect so far, I got the modules of AliExpress, and I’ve had them in for 2 months no fault codes no issues,

Looks amazing congrats.

Any plans to have a DIY written up? I've baked headlights to open em up for an 09 TL I used to have. Just curious to see if it's the same process. Is it hard to get the headlights out?

I'd be interested in a DIY write-up. Opened up my B7 S4 headlamps to change out the amber.

Looks great man. Did you have to get new lenses? Or did you just want to

No I haven't gotten around to it yet. Want to find someone local that can do it. Rather me trying to do it and fuck some shit up.
