so- had the exhaust checked out by onyx
they say the exhaust is great and theres no issue with the midpipe itself- the only cause for vibration could be this connection here- its too rigid and high up. theyve said theyre happy to cut it out for me but i should speak to swift first see their thoughts overkill also replied they can fab a resonated exhaust as oem wont match up to remus catback for 799 Im thinking- cut this section out see how that affects things hopefully thats the vibration and drone sorted otherwise I can go for the overkill midpipe- i think remus is great when i want to be loud but most of the time its just too loud but then im left with the remus midpipe and itll probably take ages to sell |

Whilst the cars in at onyx considerig getting a new diffuser- hate the standard 550i one I had to get becuase of the remus exhaust, it just looks so meh
Juggling between these 2 v style looks so much better imo but its also more than double the price, thinking should I hold off for a bit? But then again cosmetically the builds nearly done, im ripping off the yellow pinstripe and sticking on either black or dark grey https://www.carbonfactory.co.uk/prod...diffuser-17-20 https://www.carbonfactory.co.uk/prod...-fd-style-2017 Last edited by NotBobby; 10-04-2024 at 10:03 AM.. Pinstripes came out much worse than I imagined haha, this is the m4 I saw at a show that looked great (not sure of forum rules regarding posting other cars i can delete the picture if needed) Just stuck between black or grey- when the yellow was pulled off the spoiler it did peel off the lacquer With the diffuser i agree regarding the section below the tailpipes but reflector the side looks significantly better than the top imo, also the boxier look appeals to me, I've attached how much diffuser used to look |

Hey so- I've never modded a car before so i was a bit apprehensive to start- the first tune was simply bm3 stage 1 and xhp stage 2 Since then I've had a fair few mods but some probably have negligible impact but ill list everything here Bm3 stage 2 Xhp stage 2 Sports cat Vrsf charge pipe Mst air intake Ngk 92401 spark plugs Remus catback with non res midpipes Also full carbon body kit but this wouldnt affect the hp and probs made aero worse if anything hahaha |

Haha, mate you're wrong carbon fibre increases a visual vibe of speed and flair points! Definitely adds up like 20-30hp,
Thanks for your response I am still sorting mechanical issue because I bought car after small NSF damage and decided to do it all on my own as a challenge! Wish me luck! 😂 |

Took the car to jc customs a few days ago- had a resonator put in and had him rejig both mount points- vibration has decreased overall a bit and now somehow most prominent between 1400-1900 rpm- how this work has focused the vibration makes no sense but ill take it for now
But vibration and drone still present going back soon to show him with a test drive the exact issue- planned to do this first visit but had to rush back to work |

Dropped the car off today at onyx for osprey/bosch tu high pressure fuel pump, carbon steering wheel trim and oil service
On another note anyone had issues with the bm3 obd adapter? Mines been rubbish since I got it always taking several tries to connect constant on/off Never had this issue with obdlink cx so I know the obd port on the car is fine Looking into a wired enet connecter |

Some thoughts-
Resonator has reduced overall noise but Cars felt a bit sluggish since Ive had it- been rainy though the past few days and heavy traffic everywhere today though I've had the chance to push a bit And yes it feels much slower, also revved the car a bit and it just sounds muffled This plus the vibration still being present means I have the worst of all worlds Kind of at my wits end- going to speak to james at jccustoms again soon but really need a resolution. Honestly might just go back to oem |

Alongside the steering wheel trim- got engine oil serviced and had the osprey tu high pressure fuel pump put in
Got this annoying message now however - driver assistance restricted Guessing its just a faulty sensor - not done any 0-60 pulls but with the issues mentioned in the previous post regarding the resonator- car just really feels sluggish Also updated to stage 2+ bm3 map These are the setting I have for burbles, it was originally much lower but turned it up as I couldn't hear post resonator but even at such high aggresion its barely there 🫠 |

Nice to see another detailed build thread coming through!
Thanks for the mention and shoutout Build is coming along nicely... you should of gone stage2+ from the start as would of been cheaper buying the maps, but I guess going through the stages you can see and feel the differences. Colour looks really good! Something unique Im terms of exhaust issues, so you have had a resonator fitted to the Remus Midpipe or back on the OEM midpipe? I had some vibration issues where the Remus midpipe was touching the cross member brace. I fitted the thicker F90 M5 one and it was touching slightly. I was able to solve this buy twisting the mipe pipe away from the brace, but then also wrapping some exhaust wrap tape from Funk. The vibration issues for me have gone now. Look forward to seeing what's to come in the future on this car

Hey Thanks Yup would have been a bit cheaper but fun in a way to go through the stages slowly see the difference each mod brings Resonaters currently on the remus midpipe- ill have a word with jccustoms regarding as hopefully its a simple as doing that because So post the work done by him vibration has become a narrower band from around 1400- 1900 rpm, how the logic on that works I have no clue Resonator has decreased normal drone too but- when I rev it it just sounds so muted now- like worse than when it was oem +sports cat Got a few things planned I haven't see you do yet so hopefully the builds should diverge a bit more haha but really enjoying the journey so far- minus the vibration issue |

Got it ‘repaired’ by jim https://www.instagram.com/cornish_jamie?igsh=eTh0YWlhOTEzOXU2 He basically took the whole headrest off and added a new section of leather so it looks like new however it may just be cheaper to look on ebay for a new headrest |

Nice build thread, car is coming along nicely.
Sorry to hear about your vibration issues, I know how frustrating things like that can be! Have you thought about refitting the OEM exhaust to see if the vibration disappears? If it does then you definitely know it’s your new exhaust, if not then it could pinpoint it somewhere else. As I said in your other thread I don’t have any vibration from my Remus exhaust, I would think with a brand like Remus you are paying for a quality product so it shouldn’t vibrate. Can you advise what issue you had with the downpipe fitment? You said your car only had one sensor? Did you have to order another sensor? Also did you eventually get the BM3 oil light issue sorted ? |

Thank you! So its definitely remus as prior I had the oem + sports cat and that had 0 vibration. And i agree- one of the reasons I didn't go for a custom exhaust was the trust with a brand like remus+ plus other glowing reviews here, they also haven’t responded to my emails, so super disappointing on that front With the one sensor it was a case of needing to get a new compliant sports cat in but I'm not sure of the exact specifics here to be honest but had no issues as far as Im aware i still have only one sensor. Bootmode/pro tuning freaks were actually very quick to respond on Friday, car just in with bmw heathrow for the recurring sunroof issue but Im pretty sure bmw will send me a different map which ill just need to flash |
