Hugely fortunate someone didn't die. I wonder how severe the injuries are.
BMW driver completely oblivious is my take. Driving too far past their ability and not paying attention to their surroundings. Fault. Porsche driver understandably frustrated tried to pass without the signal. Gets hit by oblivious overtaxed driver. Could have been avoided by waiting. Equal Fault. Just my opinion. Interesting crash.

Just curious about the extent of the injuries.
They both survived but did they end up with serious and life altering injuries?

Liability is different than blame.

Oh yeah, hope these dudes are ok. Plastic and metal toys are replaceable. Flesh and blood not so much.
Also, some runoff could of prevented this and made it a fender bender instead. |

100% their personal insurance will not cover this. General exclusion on private passenger policies state that any Racing exhibitions are not covered. One would be a complete idiot not to purchase Track insurance.

It's called finite element analysis.

A different type of lubricant is required. It comes in a tube...

This may or may not be the case for comprehensive insurance. Depending on the fine print, the insurance carrier and the customer, damages to their own car maybe covered or not. Can't make a general statement about it. That said, dedicated track insurance is the way to go... |

Seeing and reading this, I'am reconsidering ever going on a track day again.
Seeing it from the P percepective, I totally understand the overtake of the P. When you state: rules where not applied, I challenge you to look at any trackday video and count the number of dubious/ambiguous situations in which you have to take split second decisions. Somebody like Misha C himself is also constantly NOT respecting the rules. I totally understand since the ring is flooded with amateurs not knowing the basic rules. Luckely, the crash was not a frontal one, but lateral aligned with the moving momentum (like usual on a track), else they wouldn't have survived. |

From the Porsche's perspective this was a normal overtake and a non-aggressive one at that.
This is on the M2. Should have seen the P-car and let him pass. It's just metal; most important is that they are alive... |

My goodness what a crash and a fireball! Truly amazing how far modern car safety has come with the crush points and side air bags. It's remarkable that everyone survived to walk away from this one, because that was a high speed, abrupt crash in the most traditional sense.
The comment about the blinker subscription on P1 for the m2 actually made me laugh out loud.
