The idea of putting kids into a 235i is hilarious to me. At 6'2 I barely fit in a 2, let alone with car seats trying to fit behind me, lol.

And yeah, the 4runner sucks to drive. That's a well known fact. But those V6 4runners will be driving around long after we're all gone. They are basically cockroaches, they just don't die.
Big SUVs and trucks give the perception of safety. Their weight and center of gravity affects handling. Sure, their weight and size helps them destroy a smaller and lighter vehicle while being "safer" for the SUV/truck passengers, but I'm of the belief that I'd rather be in the vehicle that is better at avoiding a wreck all together. SUVs/trucks have a dramatically higher rollover potential and rollovers are a leading cause of serious injury and death. The 4runner really makes me nervous when it comes to accident avoidance. It's lateral grip in accident avoidance is incredibly bad, it nose dives so bad and that the rear end becomes very light and you can feel the ABS going into hyperactive very quickly. It's very much like the various F150, Tundra, GM, and Ram trucks I've rented for work. So much compromise for all that heft and size.

I too am 6' 2''. My wife is 5' 8", my son 6', and my daughter 5' 10'. We have no issues taking my prior M235 or current M2 on cross town, sub 1 hour drives with the four of us. I was a child of the 1980s. We had a 1986 Accord hatch and a 1984 Chevy Celebrity wagon. Neither of those cars were much bigger, passenger space wise, than my M2. We some how managed and survived and the cars my family owned were no different than any of my friends. Times have certainly changed. Go look at a 1990s F150 compared to a current gen F150. It's unreal the size difference. The 1990s F150 is basically a current day midsize truck. Dumb. Sit in a new F150 and there is so much interior wasted space simply for the purpose of having "space".

I am 6.2 and have no problems fitting in any current or previous gen bmw or mini cars. Even E82 was fine. Also E30 no issues. The only one that was a bit cramped was first gen z3.

2 series is not a small car.

Most suvs and crossovers are handling nightmare esp during winter mo. You can see them in ditches in Buffalo rolled over. If they have worn tires it’s a death machine. Very dangerous vehicles. I would take wagon or minivan any day over those cheaply made poor handling vehicles.

It's a nice thought that you're going to avoid an accident. However, it has been my experience that (especially with my wife) any car accidents will be due to outside forces and not her. A smaller car isn't going to avoid an accident when someone slides into you while you're stopped at a red light. A smaller more nimble vehicle isn't going to avoid someone running a red light and t boning them, or rear ending them at a red light, etc.

Really blunt, I don't see my wife driving her way out of an accident. That's just not something she would do, she's not wired that way. I could put her in a Lotus on slicks and it wouldn't matter, she wouldn't drive around a wreck. So I put her in a big ass brick that will take a hit and win.

They may be worse for snow, I dunno, I don't care, if it snows here in FL we aren't going outside lol. It'll be total.pandemonium.

This is likely true for a vast majority drivers in the US and sadly, a majority of them are piloting big, heavy, and cumbersome SUVs and trucks.

I'll continue taking my chances in small, sporty coupes and sportscars like I have for the last 36 years of driving. My God I'm old

Agree on this. It's the other drivers you need to worry yourself with.

I've got 4 drivers in our house- 2 adults and 2 kids (college/hs). My college kid was hit by an uninsured local whose record indicates she shouldn't be driving. I've been broadsided by 2 drivers who ran red lights.

An F1 couldn't have avoided any of those collisions. Physics wins in the end and I'd rather we all have larger vehicles that are better equipped to protect the occupants.

Where does this vehicle size madness stop though? More and more ill handling and braking heavy and large vehicles shouldn't be the answer, IMO.

If not for all the obnoxious red accents it doesn’t look terrible, but I really can’t imagine who their target market is. I just can’t picture anybody buying this no matter how hard I try. If you have a family with the need for a car this big and enough money to buy a new one, anybody with common sense would buy a used Escalade or some other more reasonable alternative
