2008 135i seatbelt/insulation = fire, recall
Am I the 1st to get this seatbelt/ insulation/ possible fire, recall letter today? Apparently, when in a crash situation, the insulation in the area of the seatbelt holder can catch on fire! Anyway, another appt. to the dealer, which is exactly on the opposite side of the city. bummer.

I got the letter today but I actually had the work done last week. Would've had it done last month but they didn't have the part in so had to reschedule me (I was there for a scheduled checkup).

Got the letter 2 days after I got the recall along with annual oil service, tail light recall & software update done. All those were done in one day.

Fixed way before I got the letter.
There's actually 2 recalls to be done. One is rear seatbelt thing and one is rear tail light thing.

yeah there were 2 recalls; rear tail lights, and the seatbelts. The fix doesnt take more than an hour or so, even though the dealer says its a whole day job...they took my car in the shop tuesday morning at 8:30, got a call at 9:45 saying it was ready.

It annoys me a little bit that a few months ago right after the seatbelt thing hit the press that my SA said he was aware of the recall but it only affected some cars and mine wasn't on the list. Even went as far as to confirm I wasn't affected. I guess he was just assuming the computer would raise a flag when I went in for that service but I'm guessing BMW hadn't programmed the data in yet because lo and behold my letter came in the mail a few weeks ago. Better late than never I guess.

Got my recall letter a few days ago, but will wait to book until I know when I have to babysit my 2 1/2 yr old grandson
He loves the BMW and MINI store, so I'll make sure I go when I can take him with me.

That's cool, my grand dad would swing by and take me out of school for such occasions, he was a car salesman so trips to the garage were important to him, lol. It's a great way to have fun at the dealership.

We finally received the letter while recently away on vacation (5,000+ km trip to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Canyonlands, and Arches National Parks plus time in Colorado) and the appointment's made for the belts / sound insulation plus the rear tail-light seals for my first day off work in two weeks.
