Update***

After a couple nights of wrenching I finally got it all together last night Bled the system.

* Note to self drain the coolant before working on it or it’ll empty out in the garage haha.

I’d say to those who are mechanically inclined this isn’t too bad of a job to do. Definitely time consuming but worth it not to smell or lose coolant.

Ah yes, forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me. Will leave it as is then.

I have a couple of questions with these coolant line failures. It seems to be the primary issue with the 550i.

I have a 2022, with low miles (10K). I assume this issue will eventually rear it's ugly head. Is it a wear item? So likely to fail at say, 50K miles? Or can happen at any time?

Also, once fixed, is it permanently resolved with newer improved parts?

So with the Pre-LCI, the turbo coolant lines were the main coolant issue. BMW updated the parts from rubber to braided aluminum which resolved the problem. With LCI's (and 2020's), the issue is the expansion tank cracking and blowing. They moved it in these cars to a location that gets extreme heat. When it blows, it can take out injectors with it. This is issue still unresolved.
