I'm in the UK and about to install these lights (Euro spec) on my own car. Never done this before.

You mentioned the 2 additional inner tail light wires (i think they're for brake) can be tapped into the outer lights as a shortcut. Could you give me a little more info on this, as id prefer doing this than running the wires to the front of the car. Also would this save me from coding?

I believe the issue here with the Welcome Lights not functioning on older vehicles has more to do with the MO of its operation being hard written into the newer vehicle's software and it is not just controlled by a simple parameter change in the CAFD mapping.

Had it been as simple as a few FDL altering, the coding sleuths would of narrow it down by now..

At least that my theory, I could be wrong..

Hi all,
I have retrofitted a set of 2021 LCI European taillights to my 2018 US G30. Vic from Bimmer Coder in Malaysia had helped me twice with wiring and many times with coding. The weirdest thing is after his last coding (there has been couple times like this too), all lights will work properly but a week later the outer left brake will stop working first then the outer right brake will stop working as well. The wiring should be okay. He did showed me a diode like pictured that I might need to use but that discussion was never continued. Any help will be appreciated! Alan

I will be doing the same once the euros get here. They are on their way and I am using Vic as well. My shop is doing the work. I haven't seen your issue and I've read everything. Seems Euro on a US car has been pretty solid, although there is someone who installed yesterday that's having a blinker issue. See the F90 thread.

Did you have to run the 5th wire or was it already there?

Hey Alan, how did you make out with those left brake light issues? Mine are going in next week and Vic told me about that wire part and how it may be needed for some cars, he said 1 out of 10. Did you have to use it?

It looks like this guy has US LCIs and solved the welcome light issue? Kind of a vague post but passing it on for those with US lights and no welcome lights.
