(Updated) Whats this noise? Different from ones that have been discovered?

Update:

First of all, sorry that it has taken me so long to do an update, but I wanted to see if the noise will become more significant. The fact is, I think it did but it is still not loud enough for that noise to be picked up by the camera. This noise only appear when you accelerate, high rpm, louder it gets but when i say louder, it is only louder by a margin. So I turned off the air con as well but it was still there.

So what could this noise be?

I saw some threads about rods and bearing, what is the noise like if that was the case.

p.s. let me try describing the noise again, its like tic-tac-tic-tac continuously. I will probably bring it down to my dealer to have it diagnosed. Hopefully we can find the cause of this.

Thanks.

Hi All,

I have been searching around for all kinds of noises that have been spotted on the forum.

Engine ticking noise - Nope
Passenger door noise- Nope
Exhaust - Nope
LSD low speed turn grinding noise - Yes, I get this too but its not that for sure. (Could this be the noise I am describing? I am not sure but see more below)

Recently, I started to pick up this tapping/bell-ish like noise from the rear end. Its not loud, it doesn't sounds like there is something seriously wrong. But it is definitely becoming more significant. It is also not rattles as it can only be heard when I accelerate, i.e. foot on the gas. Otherwise, that sound is just not there.

So could it be the LSD too? Needs changing oil?

Any suggestions please?

Thanks
B

Does it sound like a cowbell between the exhaust and the rear wheels?

Makes me think that your differential needs the upgraded lubricant .

LSD groaning = normal
LSD chatter = abnormal

I personally don't use any of the friction modified diff fluids so I think his noise is something else.

Not to 'jack the thread, but you may want to remove the door card and see what vibrates in there.

Its a bit like that. But for what I have seen from the videos on this forum, its different. Its a a lot quieter than that and it also sounds like someone continuously tapping the table gently and only happens when im on the gas. :S

Let me try recording a video, but I am not sure if my iphone can even pick up that noise.
