Transport Co's Experience
What's everyone's experience with car transport companies? Just purchased an E90 M3 in Oklahoma and need it transported home to Virginia.
Got several quotes and all were fairly similar. Chose a company last Monday, pick up was supposed to happen on Friday, but I have not heard from the driver or the transport company since. After reading reviews on many transport companies this seems to be the standard in this type of industry. Haven't paid a dime yet, they do have my CC info though. Payment supposed to happen when the car is picked up. Not sure if I should wait for them to pick my car or just move on. |

Call the company today...they probably got it and it's in transit now. I was supposed to get a call when they picked mine up two weeks ago but it didn't happen. I called the morning of the day it arrived and she was like "oh, he should actually be there today" and gave me the driver's number and we arranged it. I also had mine delivered to VA, from KY. Cost me $600. I'd guess if it really was picked up Friday you'd have the car today or tomorrow.

I wish that was the case, but the car is still sitting in seller's garage.
Just spoke to the owner of the transportation company, apparently there was some delay with the driver on Friday. Car expected to be picked up today and delivered on Saturday. |

I've transported small cars before and they were not high dollar but they will always delay especially if the shipping is low. There's way too many people that depend on the whole process so just sit tight and be patient is all I can tell you.

Awesome...I'm in Glen Allen too! Send me a message when you get it and we'll get together. I'd love to see a 6MT, as you may a DCT.

I've shipped 4-5 times now and my experience is you really do get what you pay for (for the most part). The times I went with "high end" enclosed providers were far better also in terms of being there when they said they would be and communicating along the way. I went on the cheap a couple of times and in one case it took +2 weeks longer than originally estimated.
As long as it arrived safe and sound is really the biggest thing! Enjoy it.

Intercity Lines was great in getting my m3 out to Colorado from Maryland. Folks live in a rural part just outside DC with narrow farm roads and we live in the city with tight small streets. The driver handled everything really well.
Honestly, ICL wasn't that much more than other companies, but many luxury dealers and car forums love them. Plus it's covered/enclosed transport, too.

I just had mine shipped enclosed from Tampa to Dallas. I used Exotic Car Transport and couldn't be happier with the service. They aren't the cheapest but for not much more $$ the extra care and service was worth it to me.

I had my M3 transported in a non-enclosed truck but it was from SF to LA. I would definitely go with a reputable company and have it transported enclosed if traveling a far distance. It is worth the peace of mind. Good luck!

I'm dealing with delays right now with National Transport. I had a horrible experience 6 years ago with some no-name agent that used ABF when transporting my RX330 from Maryland to Portland. I asked a local high-end used car dealership who they use and they recommended National. They have been trying to secure a driver for 2 weeks now. I am getting very frustrated. I want to drive my e93 with the top down while I still can here before the rains set in for winter. Any other transport suggestions?

It is beyond me why people ship cars they care about using anyone else than Intercity or other equivalents. I have experienced delays with them, one due to a huge snow storm, but communication was always there and the cars arrived as they were when picked up. Never a worry.

I used Angels a few times, they are a 3rd party essentially. But this gives you insurance from the carrier and Angels as well so you are fully covered. This was important for me as I had an E46 M3 thrown off a truck (accident on top of an accident in ice) that had well over 80k into it. Got a full refund check on it.
