intro and a few questions
Purchased the car online from Oklahoma and it got delivered to me late last night here in Virginia. This is my 3rd m3, had 2 e46's before and can't wait to get to know this car better. It's an 09, 6dpd manual, stock, ext warranty thru 11/15.
Few things I have noticed so far and wanted to check if it's common: 1. Clutch feels very soft in comparison to e46 m3 2. Clutch engages at the very top of the pedal release 3. Noisy tranny 4. Last, please see picture of the driver side mirror, seems to be out of alignment not sure if anyone has had this happen before and how to fix Thanks! |

First of all, welcome
Like you, i also came from an E46 M3 & given that, a couple of your observations are no doubt correct. 1) First impressions, clutch is much softer & slightly less communicative than the E46 M3 2) Engagement point is higher than on the E46. These are both normal. 3) noisy tranny--- i'm not sure what you mean by that, i actually found the ZF 6-speed trans on the E9X to be quieter than the E46 getrag 4) mirror--- yes, seems like it is out of alignment, does the power folding work properly? and the heated function? Good thing you have warranty

Not too much concerned with the mirror anymore, did some research seems to be rather common. Will take to the dealer next oil change, since under warranty. Otherwise have been enjoying the car so far, trying to learn more about it and it's potential. Hope to make to a track in the fall or next spring to really see what this car is all about. One question regarding tires, just noticed that 3 of them are PS2's and one is Super Sport (rear) brand new. Is this a big concern, considering they are rated differently? |

Nice ride! Definitely get it to the track.
The PSS is a superior tire and grippier compared with the PS2. If I were you, I'd either find a single PS2 to wear out along with the rest and then replace all corners with PSS, or replace the other rear with a PSS, so at least you have matched pairs.

"Law" is right on regarding the clutch and the tranny sounds. I also came from an e46M3. The e92M3 clutch was so soft compared to the e46M3. It took a little while to get used to it but it's great. The tranny fluid might need to be changed in your car. My e92M3 gearbox is way quieter than my e46M3 was.
