finally after 4 years... its back
So 4 years ago I fell in love with this beautiful 2011 Melbourne Red M3. I test drove it and fell in love pretty much, However i didn't have the Financial means to purchase the car then . The previous owner leased the car and brought it back. I am planing on going this weekend to see if i can finally purchase this baby however, I looked at the carfax report and there were a few things that kind of bothering me. The car had its Hydraulic control unit replaced and the Vacuum pump replaced. I was wondering if this something to worry about or not really. Here are some pictures of the car when it was new The car also has the M performance exhaust system can't really see it in the pictures.

Sometimes dealers replace parts with the hope of fixing the complaint, sort of a trial and error methodology. I would look to see when the repairs were made in relation to eachother (i.e., whether they are different complaints or part of the same issue) and in relation to the car's mileage. A low mileage car with a frequent repair history is not a good sign. But if it was a one-time problem, then I would not find it to be problematic (unelss, of course, it was a major problem such as an engine replacement).
Car looks very clean and has a nice set of BBS wheels on there. You may want to really look over the car to identify any other modifications so you know what's been done, if anything. |

I couldn't agree more with RantarM3. The car looks very clean externally, but go over it with a fine toothed comb.

Those pics are from when it was new, so it should look clean! I would want to get some pictures of it now. Given it was a lease, it may not look like that now...

^What he said = CH-Rs (and the blacked out grill) aren't options new. Dealer must have installed them. Nice choice for this car however - I had them on my MR M3 ('13) for some time before getting the Volks as my second set.
Good luck with the stalk and purchase OP - the fact that you're still in love four years later means it the real deal. |

Plenty of excellent condition red E92s out there, don't get too attached to this one because you drove it a few years back. If something doesn't smell right find another with your desired specs.
Have an aversion to leased M3s fwiw. Don't think in general that they're as well cared for as those that are owned -- based upon my experience and observations.
