No center console trim. Why?
I know this probably bothers me WAY more than it should, but why the heck do m3's not have center console trim? It just looks so cheap and incomplete compared to regular e90s. I'm sure once I drive one I could get over it because of how incredible everything else about them would be but it just really grinds my gears for some reason haha

well...there's extended leather on the sides of the center console if you elected that option....
VS then if you're a real baller with bottomless pockets, you can opt out for the euro CF center console All of which I believe are not for sale on a plebian 335i. |

That's much better looking than the base model for sure! I wish I had bottomless pockets enough to even purchase a new m3, but I'm looking at some 2008-2009 models which I would be delighted to be able to own, but it just looks weird still without the stainless steel or wood trim like the regular e90s have. Maybe it's just me

On the dash and door trims, most people did not order the wood trim in the M3. It looked really out of place. Most got carbon Leather weave, many others like myself got aluminum.
Very few opted in for the brushed Gray metal finish, can't recall the name, but looked pretty classy. Later on, a few ballers with bottomless pockets ordered Piano Black: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=192 and very few got the GTS gloss CF dash (though didn't get matching door trim): anyways here's all the custom interior combos excluding the standard black, red, and silver leather. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=524654 |

The problem, IIRC is that the CF center console doesn't exist in non-DCT. So even if you wanted to, you wouldn't be able to match the center console with the CF trims. Plus it's $$$$

well, I swapped out my aluminum for carbon leather.
I liked both, I wish I had just bought the carbon leather outright instead of swapping. I would have changed my trim every few months depending on my mood! |

I noticed that too when I was ripping out my center console for a CIC swap, it's like a thin durable leather...looks a bit like plastic, but it's softer.

OP, do you mean the center console piece where the shifter/gear lever is?
If so, i've wondered that as well. The non-M E9X's get a trim piece that matches the other trim pieces on the dash trims and door trims. On the M3's, all of them are flat black. E9X non-M: M3:

It's covered in leather, I'm not sure what the big disappointment is.

Agreed! You're bitching about too much real leather in the interior?!

Funny now that you guys mention I was like a year into ownership before I realized that trim was leather. I always thought it was like a soft plastic.
I found after my girl put a fat gash in it with her MK bag.. |

I've never been a fan of the leather wrapped center console either. It doesn't necessarily look like leather. I agree that it should have matched the dash trim. When I swapped out the dash trim I went ahead and took care of the center console too.
