Seat belt extender

So lately I have noticed that when I start my car in the morning the seat belt butler doesn't work. But it work the rest of the day. Is this the sign???

It is. The car has plans to eject you on the way to work. It is smitten by the hot blonde up the street and wishes to change owners. Sell at once.

Seat belt helper is the weakest thing in the e92 M. I hate it. Heard that you can code it out and just reach back and grab like a real cave man.

I'm told the way to fix it is to starch the seat belt and iron it. I haven't tried it yet.

Works great for me after 3 years. Maybe because I always thank Jeeves for his assistance? A happy employee is a productive employee. You guys are probably entitled, rude dicks to it, so it breaks on you.

Casino man, I am taking my car in next week for it's last free oil change and plan to ask the dealer SA about the seat belt butler only working half the time. The softening of the seat belt material seems to be my issue. Wouldn't mind getting a new belt even if the fix is only temporary. Starching the belt may contribute to its failure in a severe accident.

I'm sure there are a few solutions for the seat belt issue. The actual problem has nothing to do with the seat belt. I believe there is an updated part on the catching mechanism. The local dealer put them in for $40 for both sides.

When I bought the car with 40k miles on it, the seat belt butler never worked. After the dealer put in the new parts, it has worked every single time.

They did this for me under warranty. It's a "spacer" on the lower rail that keeps the seat belt from getting caught. Problem solved.

Self quote because I already posted the solution. Unless you prefer a disabled extender, BMW has admitted to their faulty design and will provide the fix.

I had no beef with it when I had my e92 but I sure don't miss not having it in my e93! I noticed that if you fold the belt down the middle it catches easier but it'll still miss once in a while. Only thing the extender is good for is to amuse new passengers.

There are DIYs here for coding in general, but the options for the seatbelt extender are in the NFRM module:

ENABLE_GURTBRINGER_FA (driver)
ENABLE_GURTBRINGER_BF (passenger)

Switch them to nicht_aktiv to disable the extender.
