low beam malfunction! help please!
i dont drive my e90 m3 too much but the last time i drove her the right headlight turned pink; so i replace both sides with new bulbs. a couple months later i got a taillamp malfunction and replaced the bulb soon after i have a LEFT LOW BEAM MALFUNCTION. one night driving i got the notification and noticed the left headlight went out, then i parked the car and came back 10 min later and the headlight was working fine. then again this afternoon the headlight went out

I had similar problem, the dealer changed the bulb and it was fine. However they did check if the connections on my 4 yr old car was the problem for the malfunction in the first place. I think the connections in the light socket might have gone bad. If the dealer checks that without me asking, that means they have seen it before more than enough to not ignore the possibility.

I've sold aftermarket hid bulbs for years and yes, cheap bulbs cause problems.
Also, Philips is the most replicated brand out there. If you are bought a pair a few months ago from online somewhere I'd say theirs a 75% chance their not real Philips bulbs. |

If you bought them from a BMW dealership then I'd expect them to be legit. Although I must say, $45 for OEM HID bulbs is pretty damn cheap. I charge $79-$99/pair depending on size but thats because dealerships around here mostly charge around $149-$199/pair for OEM bulbs.

I may have missed it but I don't see where they say Philips?
Easiest thing to do to start trouble shooting, switch bulbs from side to side. Put the right side bulb in the left headlight and see what happens. If it comes on then you know the original left side bulb is bad. |
