Anyone experience a rattle sound by the engine?

I've noticed a low key rattling sound when I put my ear next to the engine. It is not only during start up, as I've pulled over to check again after some time and it's still there. I'll see if I can get a video up. I only noticed it after I changed my PS fluid, coolant, and spark plugs but I am not sure if it was there beforehand.

Okay guys, I've got a video! It's a bit of a soft noise but if you pay attention you can hear a metallic rattle.

At first I hear the fuel injectors opening and closing... is there another sound we should be paying attention to?

How long have you owned this car? The S65 engine in this car has lots of gears and chains. They tend to rattle and make noise (music!). As such, it's hard to differentiate any noise you seem to hear from the normal background noises of this engine.

I can hear it, but have no clue as to what it is. Ignore the ticking of the injectors and you can hear a faint almost grinding noise.

Yeah you can hear something aside from the clicking injectors.

Did you have the AC on? Try turning it off. The AC compressor in my old M makes a racket. Sort of sounds like the beginnings of it but its a long shot.

I can hear an added sound and so not normal !
But it sounds not like the ticking or rattle sound of the bearing problem !
But need to say that the rattle or ticking sound only is audible when you slowly rev the engine to 2-3K rpm, at this point the ticking and even more the rattle sound would increase !
So to make things sure...I would love to hear a video of your S65 when you rev it slowly ?
But like I said .the extra added sound in your video is different , but not appropriate for our S65 engine, and so not normal !
When possible please post new video with slow revs,at this point I could tell you more ....

Hmm, compressor going bad? Definitely some kinda rattle/grind beyond the sound.

I think there were times where the AC was off and I checked, only to hear the noise again. But I will check one more time.

I did get a friend to hold it to around 2-3k rpm and the noise did not increase. In fact, it sounded the same but harder to hear since the higher rpm made the engine louder.

If it's not the compressor, check your belts and pulleys.

Hear the metallic noise. Doesn't sound a bit like knocking bearings in my ears. No advice other than keep calm while changing things and try to track what makes the noise.

Good luck

I can hear 3 distinct noises, neither of which seems suspect to me. I'll just describe them by sound analogies:

1) continuous and regular chain noise, 4 times/sec
2) plates and dishes shaking on a vibrating table
3) continuous low electrical hum noise reminding me of an industrial 50Hz electric transformer

I hear that normal engine sound but there is something on top of that kinda like grind or metal tapping.. I would hate it if it was the ROD Bearing..... Here is mine all normal....

OP i suggest to send an oil to blackstone to make sure its not the ROD Bearing.. im sending mine next week.

Hmmm, it might be in my head but I kind of hear a bit of the same sound in your video. It's like a very tiny soft metallic whirring sound.

I could be just overreacting; however, I am 100% sure I've never heard this sound the past 2 years I've had this car. I'll definitely check out sending oil to Blackstone if nothing pans out.

How can I check if it's these items?

Not agreed with you !
SeanO5 engine sounds normal and exactly the same as my engine,as I told him yesterday !
But i'm agreed as you said ... "I could be just overreacting" and think that is the situation .
