E92 M3 6MT - No gear shift indicator when "Power" enabled?
Just want to know if this is normal or some coding the previous owner had...
When I have the "Power" button turned on, I get no gear shift indicator on the cluster. With the button off, I get the # + Up/Down Arrow. Is this normal? |

see the 4 with the upwards pointing arrow?
that is what i speak of. i wouldnt normally care... but the bmw performance steering wheel, when set to eff dynamics mode, which has a bit more subtle shift recommendations (eg: not the full christmas tree lights, just a flashing green), uses this. if this doesnt appear on the cluster, in ED mode, you get no lights at all on the wheel. so unless theres a way to code it in, choices are: power button on OR off + race mode (full christmas tree lights) power button off + ED mode (subtle green flash) |

My guess would be that it is normal. BMW probably (and rightfully) assumes that when you have the Power button on, you are NOT concerned with fuel economy, therefore no need to indicate when to shift for optimal fuel efficiency...

makes sense. this is what i always thought. but im hoping there is a way to force it via coding.. i have had a look at the many coding options, enabled most (all as far as i know?) the gear shift indicator ones... and still no dice.
didnt care until today... so i let it be... but got my perf. wheel installed yesterday and .... read post above : http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...72&postcount=6. |

Normal (if you have that coded in to your car). This is supposed to be tell you when to shift for fuel economy purposes, so kinda worthless especially if you are in M mode

Just talked to Evolve's coder and he says he can code it. I also asked if he could look into having it work in M Mode. I will come back with more information

I've already got the feature coded, but it's not really all that useful. It wants you to shift at like 2800-3000 RPM haha.

That little tiny arrow in the corner of a 2 inch screen is supposed to help you shift better?
Get a P3 gauge, it has a proper shift light that intensifies so you can see it with your peripheral vision |

If you're looking at the shift lights you aren't looking at the road. I have the shift light in my 6MT but when I hit the ///M, I using my ears to listen to the to S65 singing to me and driving.

lol If you're shifting your M3 in this range, you've bought the wrong car.
