Upgraded fighting class (2011 335is - 2012 M3)

I loved my 2011 335is but there always felt like there was something missing, plus it was always a discussion on what it was, no it isn't a 335 and no it isn't an M3. This was a constant conversation. So problems solved, I swapped it on a 2012 M3 JB with ZCP!

In two short weeks I've blacked out the grill, added the M stripes to the grill, had 28% window tint installed and added a Road America decal (favorite track). This car is amazing but there are two small things missing from the IS, first of all I have to be honest I miss the exhaust note and secondly the torque in the higher gears.

I see so many threads on exhaust upgrades but I won't mind getting that sound back from the IS. Outside of that this thing is a beast!

Once you get an exhaust on your M3 you won't miss your IS one bit! Love the new whip, CONGRATS!

Welcome to the Wisconsin M club! If you are ever coming into the Milwaukee area let me know with a pm- I have an ESS axle back exhaust that kicks the sound of our engines into a whole 'nother dimension without tearing off your eardrums. Gotta hear it live to appreciate.

Made a similar move as you a few months ago, although it was to an '11 M3 ZCP and not a '12. I really wish the IS came with better suspension components as that was one of gripes with it. I have the M performance exhaust so I don't miss the sound of the IS at all. I do agree on the torque to a certain extent.

Congrats. If you're worried about torque, cruise around in the 4-5k rpm range. Plenty of tq up there.

Nice switch!
As others stated, get an exhaust, that will wipe the floor with the iS exhaust. I have the PE on my 335i and love the sound. My latest M3 with Megan system just sounds epic in comparison. Makes it easy to move on.

Congrats! I made a similar switch 3 months ago from 335i with PE to M3. The M3 won't feel fast right away, it takes about a month to get used to the car and how to drive it. As for the sound, I prefer the M3 stock over a 335 with PE. The induction noise from the front alone is worth the switch…it sounds SO aggressive when you're climbing the rpm! And I'm sure I'll love it more once I get an exhaust.

Enjoy your new car in good health!
