Implementing a "like" system

I frequently browse other forums, and a few have like systems. Is there a reason we do not have it here? think it would be pretty cool.

Someone posts something. People respond either positively or negatively.

I would "like" it.
it is simple.

A "like" system is a simpler and faster way to "+1" someone.
Why should a post be wasted, taking up more page space when you simply agree with a statement. No need to repost it, just "like" it.

We could have it as a +/- system like many forums. If the post either negatively or positively contributes, you can +/- it.

I personally find the whole "+1" thing useless, unless it is followed by some kind of comment or counter-opinion. The fun of internet forums is from DISCUSSION.

Don't we already have this?

Ever notice the small grey zero towards the bottom left of someone's post? Click it and you get the option of a thumbs up/thumbs down. Isn't that what you're talking about? I agree a lot of forums make it bigger and more noticeable but I think we already have it.
