Sudden loss of power on highway

Hey guys I was driving on the highway yesterday with M mode on( Power on, D5 and etc.) I pressed the accelerator for about 50% to do an overtake but all of a sudden, the engine power was cutoff! The oil temp dropped significantly and the car itself switched to manual mode. No matter how I pressed the accelerator the engine didn't have any response at all. I immediately pulled over. After around 5 seconds the oil temp gauge went back to normal and the power came back on. I was able to drive off and the car behaved normal afterwards. The strange thing was that the M drive settings were reset to default after the power loss. Has anyone encountered this situation? The car wasn't in reduced power mode since there was no power at all at that moment and there wasn't any warning light. I tried searching the forum but i cant find any case quite like this. Car is running akrapovic evo and ESS tune and I installed the AA green filter two days ago. Any inputs are welcome guys! Thanks in advance!

Sounds very odd. I've heard of some experiencing engine cutoff after refueling. Like a small glitch or hiccup stall then everything returns to normal. Did you just refuel prior to this?

I refueled the night before so I dont think they are related. It sounds like a software issue since my M drive setting were back to default. But if it's a software bug it should have displayed warning lights.

Sounds like a computer issue. Hope you get it figured out!

How old is your battery?

EDIT: To elaborate further, a lot of electrical gremlins can stem from a weak battery.

Very very old actually. Car is 2010 and never replaced the battery. I do notice long cranking in the morning. Could the battery be the reason?

I'm starting to think my battery maybe going soon. No matter how many times I put in both my keys to charge, if I use any of them keyless, I get a warning about battery needs charging. I find it odd that both my keys would have low battery. Mine is 2011 and battery never replaced. Isn't 3 years the magic number?

If it happens again I would probably remove the tune and have it looked at. Sounds frustrating.

Comfort access keys aren't rechargeable. You need to change the batteries manually. But he was talking about the car battery, not key fob.

Yea thats true. The throttle actuator and the ICV are prone to fail... I have Easycare extended warranty so hopefully they will cover the cost to fix the problem.

My manual says you have to put in keyhole every now and then to recharge it...at least I remember reading that

Only if you don't have Comfort Access. The CA fob takes a non-rechargeable CR2032 flat battery.

I just dropped the car in the dealership today. Have the technicians found the problem yet? What do they say?

This.

Not to derail the thread, but these can be bought at any grocery or dollar store for really cheap. I got a 5 pack for 3 bucks and replaced the batteries in the keys when I first got the car.
