M Mode - How often? Other questions too

Has this topic been covered before? Probably. But I'm looking for additional information along with the M Mode usage.

First, how often people are in M Mode? 95%, 100%, 5%? And for those that are frequently in M Mode, where do you have drivelogic?

Another question. So, I'm in M Mode apprx 50% of the time. Mine's not a DD and when I drive it, it's about 50% just to take it out, 50% for "going on a drive" where I drive it hard. For DriveLogic, I keep mine cranked all the way up (as far as you can with DTS on). I have it in my head that driving with DL cranked up puts additional wear (strain?) on the drivetrain, but this assumption could be completely wrong.... I'm just going with my common sense meter here. I'm feeling those hard shifts and figure, hey, doing that over and over has GOT to wear SOMEthing.

Thoughts?

Dl is either on s6 and dsc off or s5 and mdm depending on how many objects around me I can hit. But I only use M mode about 10% of time as most of my driving is highway or city, I do hoon it in the middle of nowhere though.

Am I missing something here? I think of M-Mode as just the "M" button, which is simply a pre-set preference button for 5 parameters: throttle response, shocks, steering assist, shift level, and stability control. It's not a "race" mode. You can obviously program it for granny-level or more aggressive settings, or any combos that you want. A friend drives 100% in M-mode just to have the steering servo set at less-assisted level, with other parameters set at "going to the grocery store" levels. There should be no intrinsic stress on the car by simply being in "m-mode".

Two things - I'm not really saying M Mode is responsible for the more aggressive shifting. You could obviously always drive it all the way up, not in M mode, and my question about wear and tear is still in effect. I guess that I should have asked it differently in my original post.

Second, I thought that M-Mode is actually a different program for the DSC, such that it is "more aggressive" in that the limits as to when it kicks in are higher, letting the driver go a little more spirited before it does its thing. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

That's M Dynamic Mode (MDM) that reduces but not eliminates the effect of traction and stability control (allows some tail sliding). The "MDM" annunciator will light up on the dash display if you include it in your M mode setting.

Its entirely logical that the higher DCT modes will put more load on the transmission than the "softer" lower modes. However there are plenty of Supercharged DCTs running around and folks who have made dozens of Launches so the long term reliability doesn't seem to be an issue.
AS regards MDM I use it all the time as long as its warm and dry.

^ Agreed, I too use the warm up procedure first than M mode button set to the most aggressive settings.
Unless I know most of my driving will be stop start, school zones and neighborhoods because you cant really have fun in that situation.

Right. But the only way to get that on, barring an aftermarket reprogramming, is to put it in M Mode, correct?

Almost all the time when warmed up. Otherwise I would be driving a hybrid. I'm not preserving this car for the next driver to enjoy nor is it being kept as a collectible.

Right, MDM only set to enabled with the M button AFAIK. I like that idea of a re-program; would prefer my car default to MDM at start-up.
