Just took a 5100 mile road trip in my F80

So i just got back from driving a 5100 mile road trip.
Dallas to Banff Canada and back down to Orlando... I thought id share some longer term impressions of the car (i have almost 9k ODO now!).
  1. The adaptive suspension really saved the day. I hit some rough roads putting it into comfort made a hug difference.
  2. This engine loves cold weather. It felt SO STRONG up in the mountains.
  3. The seats are incredibly comfortable.... neither me or my co-pilot got a sore back.
  4. The stock tires are loud..... and you really hear every piece of dirt / rocks that hit the underside of the car.
  5. This car has limits that i will very likely never touch. I was really pushing it on some of these mountain roads / passes and the car just had so much more grip to give.
  6. After having my audiophile friend mess with my settings on the HK audio it sounds worlds better than the default settings.

  7. I had a couple of tiny rattles(creak) but fixed them with the DIY before the trip. Car was pretty damn solid the entire time.
  8. Brake dust has honestly been pretty normal after the first 1k or so.
  9. I averaged 24.5 MPG through the entire trip. There was a lot of cruising at 90+ (those Montana/Wyoming roads...). I was not easy on the throttle. Kept it in economy about %50 of the time.
  10. I only got pulled over once and just a warning He said my car looked great and to have fun... Having FL plates in Montana might have actually saved me (most people where just amazed).
  11. My clear bra probably saved me from thousands of rock chips. STRONGLY RECOMMEND.

Here is the route for the curious: https://goo.gl/maps/SjgLb

Some quick snaps:

Picking up my friend... day 1. So clean!

I probably washed my car 4 times.

Kayak for scale.

Thanks for the feedback! Do you mind sharing your HK equalizer settings?

BTW, that looks like an epic Ski/Snowboarding route.

Was worried about tire noise - and we all have lots of crappy roads during daily driving.

Thanks for the write up.

Pics and Fuel Economy Numbers would be greatly appreciated

One hell of a trip OP. My family goes to Seeley Lake, MT (you drove through it on rte 83) every summer.

Talk about remote...anyone F80/82 spotting on that route will have to wait quite a while before another sighting.

Congrats on the trip, how many thumbs up did you get. Or love notes from the local authorities.

+1 for a pic of your HK settings

Did you notice any changes in the Exhaust note over the course ?

Great to hear your feedback on the Adaptive suspension. Most folks would get it to stiffen up the ride but I needed to know if it could get softer than the passive option. You just confirmed that. Will definitely get it now

Please post pictures of your setting.
