Yeah I saw that earlier today too. Seems kind of sketch. So would Porsche just revamp the white 911 line then if this was going to be true? Would the Turbo or Turbo S models still even exist anymore or would they get crazier horsepower? 650hp Turbo S? What about the GT3? A Carrera S with over 500hp seems like it would step on the toes of the GT3.

Then there is the exhaust note, which I won't even get started on. Time will tell.

There's discussion over on the Porsche forums. This is unlikely. If one looks at the Panamera and Cayenne lines, the turbocharged base and S versions had similar HP to the outgoing models but a lot more torque. Thus the TT and TTS stayed much higher than the base and S even though all are now turbocharged. Same with the Macan.

The M2 article in that same issue was adjudicated embellished by the members/staff here, so the credence of this article could be suspect as well.

IMO I just don't believe it - too soon and too cannibalizing for the 911 brands.

GT3's will be worth a mint with the NA motor. Production ends in Decmeber less than 30 days my GT3 will be state side can't wait to take it to 9k. Agree with you on the exhaust!

The article also cites 2015 models which are already on the ground.

However, GT3s are going to hold their value pretty well - probably even the ones with the engine swaps.

I think they have to do it. Otherwise the Carrera and Carrera S will become the laughing stock of the sports car community. The slowest sports cars over $100k that's what these are right now.

Nope. Canceled one of the GT3 orders Thursday. Will wait for a ride in your before I decide. Not likely I will go through with it though no matter how nice it is.

The 911 is at risk of becoming obsolete very quickly from a HP perspective. Z06/07, AMG GT, etc are all over 500 HP at a lower or similar entry price. We can argue feel, quality, history etc till we are blue in the face, but a lot of people outside of these forums are going to be cross shopping these vehicles.

Nope. Just limited production runs as always. No plans as of yet announced for the GT3 to be switched to turbo. I suspect it will remain NA. Although this will be weird because the TTS already beats it around the track with a similar tire set up. They will need to make it pretty darn impressive. The 991 RS I am sure will be one serious weapon!

GT3's are sold out for the 991 if I am not mistaken. Will be interesting to see what they do with the model for 991.2. It is an amazing car and it's identity has been wrapped up in a high revving naturally aspirated motor. They did move away from the Metzger though and it is still selling like hotcakes so who knows.

I don't buy this for a second. I can see electric assist/hybrid coming to a standard 911. But a turbo? Surely they don't want to dilute the history of their halo 911 Turbo?

Nope it's a GT2. RS in 2015 is a NA motor.
