BMW F13 M6 versus 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe R Race

The last race is of the M6 against the Coupe R. Looks like the Jag driver botched up the start though, so not a good comparison. But the other races to tell a better story. The Jag Coupe R performed a lot better against the 458 and the R8 GT than I thought it would. Looks like the R8 GT was just a nose length ahead at the end. I can only imagine that with a tune and pulley what the Jag Coupe R would do. Such a great car for the price.

Yeah the Jag really missed that start against the M6.... I own or have owned all the cars in this video (small differentiation V10 R8 vs GT) and the Jag is everything its been praised to be. I tuned mine for about 50 more whp and its a ear to ear smile car for sure. And while he botched the start against the F13- the other vids show how that car is rather easy to launch and modulate the throttle for excellent times against all DCT cars.

anyone knows whats stock m6 1km time?

cause look m6 pp stage 2 ET is 21.828 and jags ET is 21.883
difference is very little

do u think jag is stock?

I totally missed that the F13 was a stage 2+... I would guess since there was disclosure that if the Jag was modded, it would have been listed as well. I think its stock but since the driver started late he never caught up. Im sure the 720hp M6 pulled up top too with that hp and the DCT.

I am very surprised at how fast the car is from this video! Vic, is the rear end of the R coupe stable under full throttle? Autocar seems to suggest that it comes a bit loose even in the straights. I am horrified that they ranked the R Coupe behind the M4 in their car of the year award. Sacrilegious!

Read end is pretty stable under full throttle launch. It's launch control is pretty impressive and somewhat Porsche like. There is a little bit of squirming but it is very controlled. It reminded me of launching a C2S in terms of level of the feel except a lot faster. This is impressive as a C2S only has 400hp to deploy to rear wheels.

Obviously launching full throttle with the steering wheel angled is a different story.

Yeah man. The R Coupe certainly did not appear to be wagging its tail from the video. Very good traction for a front engined beast with this much power! Those buggers at Autocar must have broken the R coupe they were reviewing.

Stock M6 Coupe is 21,9s:

Notice that the Jag has better 1/4-mile and 1/2-mile times. The M6 has a slightly higher trap speed at the 1/2 mile and is a bit faster at the 1km mark.

It's evident from the above times and speeds that he M6 pulls at higher speeds compared with the Jag.

That M6 was not making anywhere close to 720hp. His 1/4 mile trap speed was only 120.4 mph...I trapped higher (120.87) in 82 degs and humid conditions when my M5 was practically stock (drop-in air filters and mufflers).

Just food for though too. How would the Jag Coupe R do against a BMW M4 in a drag race realistically? Stock for stock. I was just wondering. Also, does anyone know what the Jag's normal 1/4 mile time is?

Im up a little in tq and hp so from a dig I feather the car for an immediate roll out and then blast it. Last night I was ripping thru the gears and I was ever so slightly back end loose but that was because the tires were cold IMHO. But in many many different driving speeds and experiences Ive had in 3 months with this car; its extremely stable at speed with warm tires. In plus 120mph bigger turns, you can really feel the active diff working with you to keep you in line and limit understeer. At first it was weird being helped so much but then I got used to it. Ive driven the M4 and to me, its not as good as the Jag... but that was a 6 mile test drive so I wont completely judge.
