Port to Dealer time for ED

Hi Forum,

My F80 just arrived at the port today from a ED delivery in September.
I've searched the forum, and I have seen older threads that say the time to the dealer has been as low as a few days but up to a few weeks depending on inspection etc.

I am wondering what recent experiences have been like just to help my neurosis calm down.

Thanks!

Hope you fare better than me, push 34 days now and the latest excuse is "Everything is done but the lady who needs to sign the paperwork wasn't there, so we're hoping it will be released to the carrier this week"

Answer: When they get back from a romp through the mountains they'll complete the process and send it to the dealer.

Drop off in Nice on August 29 and arrived at dealer in L.A. today.
Long, painful wait but worth it!

I'm in the same boat. Arrives at port tomorrow but am unsure how long it takes before it gets to the dealer. I hope it isn't 34 days...or even a few days. Waiting sucks

I dropped my car off in Paris September 30th. Boat is scheduled to hit NY today, then Brunswick on the 10th. I've heard so many stories about when I should expect it at the dealer. Most of them are 7-30 days after port offloading.

The reason ED cars take longer to clear is because of customs. Those cars have to be inspected differently than standard cars are. I guess they want to make sure we're not importing cocaine along with our car.

Ill communicate my time frame when I know it and ask you guys to do the same. The waiting is part of the fun, but I've waited long enough!

How long until it showed up in WWL?

Sorry - the Wallenius Wilhelmsen shipping site. Most people track their car post ED drop off to the ship and then by truck to their dealership.

My car still isn't on the WWL site and I don't think it'd be on K-line given their schedule now so I"m trying to get a read on how long after Paris drop-off people's cars took to show up on the WWL site (assuming they checked).

thanks!

Got it. I would say it showed up on the site 2 weeks after I dropped it off in Paris. I told myself I wouldnt check for two weeks, and sent an email exactly at that time. The BMW rep gave me the vessel name and loading time within a few hours. What surprised me was my car had to be trucked back into Munich before leaving out again. I thought it would just be taken to the port of export directly.

My car arrived at the port in NJ and this is the info I have on the W&W website.

LINER RELEASE NEW YORK, NY 06-11-2014 08:29:10
CUSTOMS RELEASE NEW YORK, NY 06-11-2014 00:00:00
LOADED ON VESSEL BREMERHAVEN 23-10-2014 21:15:52 1
RECEIVED AT TERMINAL BREMERHAVEN 23-10-2014 08:25:11 1
BOOKED BREMERHAVEN 10-10-2014 17:40:22 1

It'll ultimately go to South Carolina for PDC.

Is there anyway to track it after this point short of calling my CA or BMW NA? Will the website show that it's been released to a carrier or is this where W&W ends?

LOL I dropped 1 car off for ED on September 14th. Still awaiting my actual car, which didn't finish production until October 21st. My other car has subsequently made it home and been sold. WHERE IS MY CARRRR?!?!? The phone number still says its at the port awaiting a carrier, but there are 2 threads about 2 different carriers that have arrived and left since then. FML.

I've heard a lot of the cars are trucked via UnitedRoad.com and can be tracked by calling them / emailing.

I dropped off my car at the Munich airport on August 22nd and took delivery on October 2nd, so it took about 6 weeks in total. It took 25 days to get to the Halifax port and then 16 days to get from port to the dealer. Both my dealer and BMW Canada were very helpful in expediting the delivery when the car hit port (they had it trucked directly to the dealer).

My car arrived in Brunswick last night. I dropped it off in Paris September 30th. I am relatively satisfied with a less than 6 week transit from Paris to Port, considering they add a week to your return estimate for non-Munich drop-offs.

Now the difficult time starts. Knowing the car is on US soil but not in your garage. Ive read everything from 5 days to 35 days from Port to Dealer. My guess is a solid two weeks, or right about the time I'm out of town for Thanksgiving...

My car has been at VPC since mid last week. I had been told an estimated dealer delivery date of 11/8. Now, when I call BMW they state 11/17 without knowing why. My dealer doesn't appear to know why either.
I assume it has to do with repair or replacement of something but I don't know for sure.
This is getting to be profoundly annoying.

What line are you calling for BMW? I have sent an email to my local CA but would like to see what BMW has to say. Please forward that info if you have it.

Thank You

I called the 1-800-831-1117 number.

They are useless at this point.

I was told to call BMW special sales. 1-800-932-0831. Hopefully they can help you with the delay. They are the ones who track Euro Delivery returns. Good luck.

Ok I have this confirmed now. I dropped the car off Sept 30 and it showed up on WWL October 10th.
