It seems the F82 seatbelt snapping point is positioned quite low. So when you want to buckle up, the metal buckle hangs very low on the belt by default (feet level almost) and one has to drag it up first.
On my 5 series there's a sliding block that keeps the buckle higher and much more conveniently positioned. Is this an accessory or can this be fixed somehow? Thanks! |

They call it a "retainer" it seems:
http://m.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Black-Seat...-/290933051247 Is one supposed to cut a hole in the belt to install this? |

I don't believe that is the correct approach. I could be wrong but, having some experience with materials testing in my past, I would surmise that one should never make a hole in a safety belt. It is likely to reduce the tensile strength of the material incredibly.
If this is the S.O.P. for installing the retainers, someone please feel free to correct me. *edit* - In looking at the part, it may be just a pinhole size poke-through needed. Not a "cut", but a "poke", if that makes any sense. If it is just a pinhole, I would be sure to line it up with a void in the seatbelt material weave; like in the middle of the # sign, if I were to install these. |
