Rear seat protection for dogs
I've tried many products and none really do a great job. BMW makes a nice one for the old models that they call universal, but it doesn't attach to my f80 because the front and rear headrests are fixed. Does anyone have an idea for a solution? The leather seats are holding up fine enough, but it still makes me nervous.
Any help is appreciated!! Thank you! |

Canine Covers. Cost a bit more but are fitted for cars and are great. I have one for my X1. No abnormal wear from my 125lb dog getting in and out all the time.

i actually don't mind paying a lot for them, but Canine Covers doesn't make them for the f80. I really like the BMW made one, but it just doesn't attach right.

We bought a cheapo but well-reviewed cover from Amazon for my wife's M3. Unfortunately it stinks of a chemical very badly (apparently the reviews mentioned this) so much so that I don't want her using it because it is overpowering the new BMW smell and I don't want that to be permanent or have to smell that every time I'm riding. I think we are going to look for a replacement.

I've just used an old clean heavy blanket. We have a 55 pound Border Collie/German Shepherd mix and she has never damaged any of our seats with that method. That being said, I don't think she'll ever see the inside of the M3 and it will be the X1 for her car rides.

They're close, but might have an issue depending on how they're secured in the F30.

thanks all. I did call Canine covers and they don't make one for the M3.
The BMW covers are made for those headrests. They have a strip with two notches in the side for the headrest pins. I might end up just buying that and modifying it to fit if I can't find another solution. |

If anyone solves this for the M4, I'm willing to pay you 3,2 dollars I have in cash.
I bought a cover, it was so bad and looked so bad I decided the muddy prints were decorative.

Haha, I want my dog to run around free so I take him twice a day to a dog park. That time is also all the time I get to be alone and enjoy silence, exhaust note, me being a complete idiot. My dog goes into the car for sure.

Just so happened was at Petco yesterday and saw a whole row of items for exactly what your looking for, from dog seat belt harnesses, to harnesses that support the dog in its own hammock style open carrier with limited movement. Didn't know there were such items.

My dog naps in the trunk and before Eisenmann I let him travel there too. Now he's ears would bleed when I step on it.

I have a german shepherd, she fits nicely in this. Protects her and the car. Been using it for years, previously in my s4 and now m3.

Great thread, since I've been looking for something for our X5. This looks perfect, but... How big is your shepherd? So, do you put it in your back seat then have your dog climb in or put him/her in it then move it to your car? I have a 100 lb lab and I think he might shit egg rolls if I tried to put him in that thing...
