Supercharging my car.... are all my bases covered?

I'm putting the ESS VT2-650 kit on my car and also having the rod bearings replaced as a preventative measure. I have HFC's X-pipe, and axleback. Is there anything else I should definitely do? I've heard some talk of replacing the differential bushings... Curious to hear any thoughts.

Especially as a Manual trans I would replace the rear diff bushings for sure, I am among many who have snapped the rear diff bolts do to the squishy OEM ones. SC will only compound the problem, will also get rid of wheel hop and plant your rear much better.

Depending on what your doing and how the diff falls when the bolt/bolts snap you can cause some serious damage.

That being said if you get solid mounts you will get some NHV, will hear a slight whine at different speeds that can be heard even over exhaust and supercharger. ESS SC is pretty quiet at first untill it fully breaks in around 1500 miles or so then you get more of that SC whine action.

Is there a good hard kit that's not completely solid, something that is in between pure race and OEM?

Once you're done with the safety measure I'd recommend you invest in a good wheel and tire setup to help put the power down...

I think your good man.... good suggestions here but unless your drag racing you can get by for a bit. Get a boost gauge that shows AFR as well. I'd look at the p3 gauge. You want to watch AFR and boost to make sure everything is operating as it should.

Your going to love the power! congrats

Good call on the p3, I think I'm going to go with that one!

How does this compare to doing the diff bushings? Is the lockdown kit kind of a "band aid" fix?

I would also change the spark plugs. Dif fluid. Trans fluid. Engine oil and so on. Just to be safe. I'm sure you know that already good luck!

It's an entire kit, that locks down the rear differential to prevent wheel hop during hard launches. Without it, you risk snapping your drive axles, if you launch from a dig.

+1 on the DEFIV DCT brace, I am very glad this product came to market. Not as clean a solution as solid diff mounts, but doesn't introduce cabin whine, which is important. Super stocked to get mine.

Are you sure it doesn't? My buddy is running a similar brace on his mustang and it's LOUD.

Not 100% sure, no, but I've ridden in cars with similar braces before and it didn't introduce any noise I found out of place. It's super noticeable with solid mounts.

I heard that brace DOES add noise.

The DEFIV brace uses solid diff mounts. If you go with solid subframe mounts as well (and I would), it will translate the whine into the cabin.

Im confused.

I thought most noise = solid diff mounts.
Some noise, but not nearly as much = solid subframe.

And I was told by a owner of the defiv kit that it added a lot of noise to his (which makes sense if they use solid diff mount) car.

Im actually having my car super charged tomorrow at EAS so I would like to know what to order next and make sure I know what is the best for me.

Thumbs up You are just about good bro

All you need to do is your Diff bushings and your rear sub frame bushings if you go solid you are going to hear the diff whine. Then sit back and enjoy your ESS 650

Is there a middle of the road option? A bushing that is harder than stock, but not quite as noisy as solid aluminum?

+1 I would think there would be a strong market for Delrin or Polyurethane...

Don't forget to post pics of the old bearings! Always interesting to see how those held up.
