BMW M3 review by Pistonheads
" It looks fabulous. It goes like stink. It's desirable, comfortable, luxurious, pugnacious and expertly balances visual aggression with the ability to keep a relatively low profile in the company car park. The quality and extent of the M division's engineering is without question. It's as close as anyone has got to making a new-age turbo performance car with the sensations of a more traditional one yet keeping all the mod cons and returning (officially at least) mpg and CO2 that won't break the bank. And at the limit it's a magnificent thing."

Actually that was the conclusion of the article. So it's the straightforward way to sum up the article.

He quotes the final paragraph, the one that summarized the experience as a whole. Did you want him to post the whole article?

Limited Disappointment
Take that for what you will...

The article is perfect in my humble opinion. I like the M3 a lot which is why I'm here. It's better in many respects but the point it makes is that sometimes more refinement isn't necessarily better. Refinement takes some character away. When I was young I thought Cindy Crawford was hot mole and all! Imagine that they would've forced her to take off her mole trim her eyebrows closer to what all the other models had at the time and had her be more waif-like. I'm sure she would still be beautiful and desireable but I believe she was more so with her perfect imperfections and curvaceous figure. I hope that helps explain it and not start a war especially since many of us like the same cars.

"Ungrateful swines that we are but the more crude 1 M with its slight lag and rushes of boost is actually more exciting to drive at road speeds ..."
Some reviewers can't take yes for an answer. Take them away, lock them in the turbo lag dungeons and then feed them to the crocodiles! Indeed. Ungrateful swines, you are. Last edited by Falafel Combo; 01-07-2015 at 01:30 PM.. |

In this article review they don't say that it looks better but that the transformation is greater between non-M f80 and M version whereas the M435 and M4 are harder to tell apart. My understanding is that looks-wise they feel you get more look differentiation with M3. |

Ha, indeed.
nachob- Having owned and tracked both, I can offer my opinion that the F8x is not more refined than the E9x from behind the wheel. It's has a more luxurious interior, but the driving experience is without doubt more performance focused. Hope that helps with your decision. |
