Carbon Fiber Roof - outer panel popped out?
Hey Guys,
Came back to my parked car with the outer panel popped out a bit. I can snap it back in but it's loose and easily pops back out. Is there an adhesive out there I can apply? What do you guys think? |

Same thing happened to mines when I took delivery. It seems like that piece is held on by double side tape and it wasn't compressed when it was built.
Make sure that area is dry and place a microfiber towel over it and compress it. Worked for me. |

Happened to me when I got my car back from 1200 mile service. Actually noticed it when I was talking to the Service Manager after we pulled my car out. I'm assuming it was from the car wash and it popped up. I just popped it back in. Hasn't popped out yet but then again I haven't washed the car since.

I would bring it back to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty.

Take it to the dealer so it's on file as faulty. That way if it pops out and you lose it you can have the dealer pay for a new one.

Agreed on taking it back to the dealer.
Any stuff like this should be logged under your warranty history, so that if it happens after again after your warranty expires, you can still usually claim additional repairs on previously faulty issues.

Mine did this after getting my roof wrapped with SunTek.
To remedy this: 1. Clean the area with a good adhesive remover. Both on the underside of the clip and the top of the roof with the clip makes contact. 2. Get 3M tape. Its $5 at Walmart. 3. Get 3M Ahesive Promotor. 4. Put a little of the promoter on the underside of the clip and on the top of the roof where the clip makes contact. Use a clean rag or towel. 5. Cut a piece of the 3m tape the length of the underside of the clip. 6. Remove the backing of the tape and place the tape on the indentation on the roof where the clip makes contact. 7. Remove the other side backing and press the rail back into place. 8. Let the tape setup for a few hours before washing or getting the top of the car wet. |

Black trim next to CF roof lifting
So I notice this trim lifting off. How is it held on by glue?
Can fix this without wasting a trip to the dealer? Anyone else see this issue? |

Yup. There is another thread on this. Mine came out after picking car up from 1200 mile service. I'm sure it was from the car wash. I just pushed it back in.

I don't know what they use, but when my roof trim came off I just push them back in. There's another thread regarding about this problem too. Sorry

This was a chronic issue with my e92 m3 that had a CF Roof. While under warranty I took it to dealer about 5-6 times for the issue. The first few times they would just apply new double sided tape, which would hold for a few weeks, and then it would pop up once again.
They then finally replaced the tabs that the trim uses to clip onto car. This worked for a while, but then it popped off again. See, the issue is that the tabs that the trim uses to clip onto car is not located right up to the very end of the trim piece. So with time that piece ends up just popping up as nothing is really holding it down against the car. I gave up on taking to the dealer as their only remedy was to keep re-applying double sided tape. I ended up just swapping out with 3m tape every few months to address the issue. Kind of a bummer as I thought this issue would’ve been worked out after the e92. |
