6MT shift lights?

Does it have it? I took it to redline several modes and didn't see it. Didn't see it in the hud either. I thought the mview top empty bars would have it at least

Dude. I've been reading this forum for a year now, and I keep picturing a Christmas tree lights every time this is mentioned.

There is an icon under the rev counter in the dials, the hood settings in mine on M1 shows me nav there, on two shows me the revs.

so, don't go to red badly, it isn't a nice feeling when the engine cuts you off for being an idiot. I know this because I fucked up twice.

What? Still confused. I'm used to the dct setup on the e92 where it's so obvious it just flashes yellow then red

Are u talking about the numbers that tell u what to shift to?

Maybe I'm blind but I saw nothing at all even when I bounced off the limiter

I also don't see the shift lights. I have the 6MT without executive package. Is there a setting for this somewhere?

I thought I read somewhere, if you turn off sport HUD(takes the rpm gauge off the the windshield), it activates the Christmas tree affect on the dash. Never confirmed this as I run sport HUD on all the time but give it a try and report back.

Yep, it's definitely there with Sport HUD off, I can't remember with it on. I'll check when I leave this morning.

I'm getting more and more confused with this one. Not only I can't understand why that would be needed, but aren't we supposed to learn by hearing /seat feel the optimal shift time?

I'm testing your theory on the way to the dog park. I will share if the jack Russell hates this more.

After six months apparently I still have no idea what I bought. Good job me!

I hope that's available without the Exec package. I know with the E90, my DCT car had it, but the manual did not.

My 6MT M4 does that and I don't have the Exec package.

Wash getting a bit worried myself. Not that it's a big deal, but ofcourse it is better than not having them. Thanks for the affirmation!

If I followed the shift lights, Id be in 6th gear by 40 mph. I think my model is either incorrect with its advice or BMW really REALLY wants to keep the revs at a minimum. Most days, it recommends I go to 6th from 3rd. So weird.

I think you're confusing the shift lights with the recommended gear indicator.

Those shifts sound more like DCT than MT.

Its okay dama, you're not alone in this. I have no idea what those are even after six months of having the car.

I keep picturing Las Vegas and Elvis on a Christmas eve. Every other answer would be too subtle.

Correct - is M HUD is activated - you will NOT see the christmas lights.

When i start the car - its auto goes to throttle at efficient and regular HUD

Christmas lights are active.

If i go to M1 and the m hud comes on (and throttle goes to sport) christmas lights do not work. not 100% sure if you have to leave throttle in efficient - but 100% if the M HUD is active - you will NOT get the christmas lights.

This is half true. The "Christmas lights" are actually moved into the M HUD. The little rectangles up over the RPMs fill up with grey in increments just like the yellow lights on the actual tachometer do as you approach the redline. They are considerably more difficult to see, being light grey, but the effect is still there. I have a 6mt and can't speak for the DCT guys, but in my car there is a shift indicator with the M HUD as well.
