What's causing this?
'09 M3, 80,000 miles, regular track use and my daily driver. BPM stage 2 tune, no other mods (motor wise). Car drives fine no issues until today (well see below).
Last fall at VIR I had to cut my track event short because after the third session I got a "reduced engine power" warning with a reduced red-line to 7,000 rpm. Car otherwise drove fine. Every time I would restart the car the error message would to away with normal redline until I went out on track again (only tried this twice before packing up and going home). Drove home no problems. Reflashed the BPM tune 2 weeks after the track event thinking it might be software and drove car for next 3 months with no issues. Today merging onto the freeway (I'm generally a granny driver on public roads), I run it up to about 7,800 rpm through second and partway into 3rd gear. Just as I move into my lane I get the "bing" reduced engine power warning with redine reduced to 7,000 rpm. Car otherwise drives fine. Go to work, park car and this evening driving home warning gone and drive home. Two codes I get off my car are 2B29 Torque management monitor and 2B57 motor emergency program activated. Two weeks ago I had a 2771 o2 sensor bank 1 low voltage warning, which I cleared to see if it would come back but don't see that code now. Any ideas as to what is going on now? What should I try next or do I need to go to the dealer (not my first or second choice) and have them tell me what's going on. |
