Check out the key fob of the X5M/X6M

I was wondering if they can be coded to our F80/82/83's?

For sure it looks much cooler than our standard looking 3/4 series key fob.

you can only buy a key via your vin number I believe and the car has to be present. I could be wrong but doubt its possible. Yes the x5 keys are sick!

They're bigger. They weigh about the same. They are much better looking though. Much much better looking.

I would say if it's only a matter of coding, theoretically any of the key FOB's should be programable for any car. Unless it's chastity locked down like the ECU's are, why not? It's simply a remote signal, ofcourse VIN specific, but if the key is programmed correctly... Though I'm no expert, so those with more knowledge please feel free to school us.

Nice looking but too big. When I drive my wife's X5 that key is an anchor in my pocket. I like the size of the F8xx key. It would be nice if they did something special to that key but in reality it looks nonce enough and just sits in my pocket anyway.

Thanks! Its not bad looking at all. Seems less flashy compared to the X5/6 key but not garbage like the older all plastic fobs (E9x,E6x, etc)

My key is always in my pocket. Don't care what it looks like. I sure don't buy my cars for the exclusivity of the key...

Agree.

But would be nice if the key fob was half the size it is now.

M grill stripes on ebay. They don't look so good on the grill (wrinkles) but they don't look so bad on the key!

And, yes, MBP... the older non-retina one that is upgradeable.
