M5 vs Bikes....
I see a lot of comparisons to Porsches, Audis, and so on, but never any bikes.
Recently got a bunch of stuff put on my M5 so I had my buddy swing by to pick up the car while I took my Panigale and we punched it a few times. Gotta say, the M5 is no slouch. I am sitting at ~550lbs with me on the bike @ 148HP vs ~4500 lbs @ 600HP. The M5 needs a kick before it starts going, but once it does, it a freakin' rocket. Any other bikers on here?

I've never drag raced my BMW S1000RR but know I would have a difficult time launching it properly from a standstill. Kind of like my difficulties with the M5, but worse. I haven't raced my M5 with it, but from a seat of the pants feel the M5 would be left behind immediately and never catch up, even in its strong suit from a roll in second gear from 50 or so. I do track days with the RR as well as the M5, and at the end of the straight at Grattan the bike is doing 15+ MPH more and I'm sure gets there quicker. I do have an exhaust and a PCV on the RR while the M5 engine is bone stock with the charcoal filter removed.

Iv'e mopped up a few bikes back in the day. Not sure which ones but for a car this heavy to keep up with bikes under 1000pounds, thats mighty impressive.

Karney, did you decide on a tune yet? I have been thinking about Dinan but heard they may be coming out with a flash tune versus their piggyback.

I've beaten 600cc bikes several times. Anything over that isn't possible.

Do you have the 899 or 1199? Wasn't sure if you were saying 148HP at the crank or wheel. I had a '12 1199S that I sold last summer and kept my '12 Multi PP.

Yeah I have crushed several from a dig with my TTS but even on the 6speedonline board the consensus is that a 1000cc bike will crush the 991tts and pretty much any super car. Top end a 1000cc bike does well over 200mph.

I had raced with a BMW s1000 RR, we picked up from speed over 120kph, and my M5 never catches up with that bike, that's the first time I saw 270kph on my head up display( THE real GPS speed was probably 250kph)

A liter bike dude here. My last bike a 2011 ZX-10R street bike had: Anti wheelie, Traction Control, clutchless WOT shifting, reflashed, no speed limiter, revved to 13000 rpm, weighed 417 lbs, and 169 horses to the rear wheel. I could at 70 mph downshift to 1st and go WOT all the way to an indicated 190 mph, upshifting to the next gear on a DCT speed like pattern.
M5 won't touch a modern day liter bike with a trained rider (California Superbike Level 3 grad BTW). Nope.

Agree. I did a couple 2 day schools with them at Las Vegas and The Ridge here in WA, so got to enjoy the personalized level 4 teaching. But, as you know, skill to be fast is needed in and out of the corners. Lot's of people with the tech on new bikes can go fast in a straight line.

Haven't got a tune yet. Just got a bunch of Vorsteiner parts on and I literally got my car back about 2-3 hours ago and some dumbass hit it. It's going to Markel tomorrow. Front bumper, headlight, fender will need to replaced the and hood will need work. Sticking to my bike for the next few weeks and maybe getting a piggyback if they ever release one!
