I'm not surprised at all. MP4-12C is a fast car period.
Yesterday, during the Newport McLaren event (570s introduction) I had a chance to test drive this car. It's really fast car. She also has great handling specially on turns. I pushed the car to the limit and drove it the way it meant to be driven. I drove it in both Sport and Track mode and revved it to the redline several times. Despite the slightly turbo lag and not very amazing DCT (compare to M DCT) It's a fantastic car. I didn't feel that kick from rear end that I feel with my M6 in sport+ mode (maybe because of less torque?), but it was a great driving experience, very light and precise. She launches like a champ with very little wheel spinning and accelerates like a rocket. In rolling when I floored it, slightly delay (turbo lag) was felt but then immediately she jumped.

Although the McLaren was tuned, it was still carrying a passenger but it wouldn't have mattered if the McLaren wasn't tuned and wasn't carrying a passenger. Stock for Stock the McLaren would still win, the weight difference between the two is huge. The weight difference almost the same as between the F10 M5 and the F80 M3, it's that much between the C7 Z06 and the 12C.

What kind of a douche straight arms a rolling start race with a Mac? lol
Black baseball cap... $10. C7 Z06... $85,000. Looking like a complete d-bag while losing a street race... priceless. |
