McLaren unveils the 540C at Shanghai!

Let's see what the base price is going to be. Looks just as good as the 570S in my opinion. I heard rumours last weekend that the 540C was only going to marketed in Europe and in select countries not including the U.S., but I'm glad to learn that it will be available globally next year! Awesome!

$170-$180k. It's not going to be a bargain, if that's what you're hoping for =)

From what I understand the base price of the Porsche Turbo is $148k. I thought that McLaren were basing the new Sports Series around the Porsche Turbo and Turbo S. Therefore would be making the base prices of the new Sports Series cars close to Porsche's. If you can order a new McLaren 540C, lightly loaded, for about $160k, that's a win in my book. I do understand a fully loaded 570S will jack up the price to over $225k though.

Guys, there is a bad news here. 540s is not gonna hit US market.
I asked exact question on Saturday when I attended in McLaren event and that was the answer I got.

Are you sure? I need to find more info. I also heard a rumor that the 540C is for the Chinese market because of emissions restrictions. Hmm...

Yes. They said exactly the same thing. It's for just Chinese market.

Maybe also for production reasons McLaren doesn't want to sell the 540C in America. I'm sure the 540C would sell like hotcakes in the U.S. and would probably even outstrip sales of the 570S. I know that McLaren can't produce millions of cars a year like Toyota, they just don't have the Industrial Capacity. What a shame though if really true.

Agreed. 540C will eat the market of 911 Turbo/Turbo S and R8, but again like you said they do not have that capability to mass produce the car. Their plan is to increase the quantity of their hand made cars to 5000 per year in 3 years.

Dude! This article is saying that we should get the 540C here in the United States.

http://blog.caranddriver.com/in-the-...ally-unveiled/

And here's another that states that the lower horsepower rating of the 540C will help the Chinese consumers avoid a higher tax by buying the 540C instead of the 570S and that it will be sold in the United States also.

Agree with M6Coupe, The 570S is the USA variant of the international 540C.

Well I guess you all were right. No 540C for the United States, at least not for now. Doh!

http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-new...-ar169474.html

http://www.carscoops.com/2015/05/mcl...196500-in.html

I guess maybe my speculation that perhaps McLaren cannot handle the demand of a 540C model in America due to a limit in industrial output may be true. Who knows.

So I guess if you want a McLaren 911-Fighter here in the states, you are going to have to fork over 991 Turbo-S prices for one.

Honestly, I would never invest in a MAC the depreciation is the worst of any sports car. Best to get one a year old unless you can spring for a P1. Reliability still less than desired on such an expensive car. Performance is great, but the drop in price is sick, and you can get a 12C low miles 150k which is a tad more than a low mileage GT3 2010.

I look at used prices for 12C's all the time. Can anyone comment on the reliability of used 2012 12C's? I hear good things and some bad things. Even better, you can get a used 991 GT3 for less than a new 570S, or heck even a new 911 GT3 if optioned right and if you're lucky. I wonder how much further used 12C's values will drop once the new 570S his the U.S. market.

The reliability is outstanding, but the 2013 MY got a lot of upgrades (not just the HP bump), which is why there is a noticeable disparity in price between the 2012's and 2013's. I believe the 2012's are eligible for the newer engine software, which is nice.
