F80 on the Autobahn

Video link below to some autobahn footage taken on my recent ED.

Definitely some NSFW language in the video (music and me both at fault).

Hope you enjoy:

For a fun indication of how fast I'm going at any one time look to the gap between hood and fender - it grows noticeably due to the hood rising at around 155 indicated. (See discrepancy in gap comparing it at 2:00 against the gap at 2:52).

Thanks!

Lucky you! I can only dream of the autobahn being an on-demand (no flight needed) experience.

Sure as fuck was! Thanks, I realized I was doing something wrong with the audio - Lauryn Hill wasn't intended to play all 5 minutes, but I think it goes well (for my tastes...). Also realized another error leading to the stutters in audio - first time making something like that.

Cannot f'n wait for this thing to arrive. Ship is right on schedule for me. You catch a boat yet?

I am hoping for the ship tomorrow. Time will tell though. I'm losing my mind in this F150

F150's nice. Huge, but nice. Sympathy = zero. My current ride:

And that's just a random internet photo - mine doesn't even have the sunroof. Wait. I can say that about my next car too. Uh-oh.

F80 M3 on Autobahn (A3)

I drove an M3 from Frankfurt to Nurburgring last month.
Speed meter showed 266kph while GPS log told 257kph.

So you guys think the 1200 mile break in period is simply a suggestion huh?

Not necessarily. From a mechanical perspective within the first couple of hundred miles everything internally will be seated. Now, there is the issue of any rough particles being dislodged and that is why the fluid should be changed at/around 1200, but mechanically there is no "breaking in more" after a certain point.

Going further, the car running in 7th at 4500 rpm and doing 150mph is stressing the engine the same as if running in 4th at 4500rpm, doing 105 (don't quote my rpm/mph values - just rough numbers).

Yes, the tires/suspension are working harder, but that is not something that gets changed at break-in service anyway.

I'd surely agree with you that redline runs, full throttle starts, launch control, etc. are not good to do to the car in the first couple hundred miles, but simply going over an arbitrary mph restriction doesn't compare with these activities.

I was not implying that what you were doing was wrong, but thanks for the nice explanation and I agree on your thoughts.

Love the music and angle of your goPro. It really shows the lines of the hood well. Also, I can't stop staring at the blue; I love that your F80 is blue.
