Sold my 991 GT3 - Bought an M4 - Introducing Myself!
Hi All -
Just wanted to introduce myself. I picked up my 2015 M4 yesterday. Yas Marina Blue Tech, executive, lighting, HK Audio Carbon Roof Silverstone Interior I traded a 2014 991 GT3 for the m4. The GT3 was an absolute blast to drive, but it's no daily driver and I felt like I was just wasting the car in the way I drove it. It needed to be wound out to 8k rpm plus to really shine. I had no time to drive it the way I wanted, and the market is so strong for GT3's, I was able to get out of it at close to MSRP. I was very active on the Rennlist GT3 boards and I'm looking forward to doing the same here. There is so much to learn about the F8X. Generally I am blown away with the tech in the car and the low end torque is awesome. The car is exactly what I was looking for. So far, I've installed a few of the M Performance exterior items - splitter, side skits, spoiled, CF mirror caps, grille and side markers. I bought some Vorsteiner 103's from a forum member and get those in a couple weeks. AWE exhaust is coming soon and I'll be doing the Bavsound speaker upgrade sometime soon as well. Very nice. Welcome. Love the silverstone interior.
I got a chance recently to track a 991 GT3 in Vegas. Dream weekend car for me. You'll love the M4. |

Congrats on the M4. The GT3 definitely have a very strong resale. A lot of GT3 I see for sale are actually into the $200k range now (In Canada).
Any pics of the GT3? |

Even more crazy is the last 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0. New they were $185k+(US), they now list over $400k-$500k+ used. |

Most people go the other way, trading their M3/4 for a p-car. I would like to know how ur experience is going the opposite way. Congrats! I agree, the 911 prices have skyrocketed. Good thing you came out on top! Enjoy in good health!

Thanks all - To answer the major theme to this thread, the GT3, like I said was an incredible machine. But living in Atlanta with zero time to escape the city, all I was doing was driving it in traffic up and down 400 everyday. It is absolutely brutal to drive in traffic - fine one or two times a week, but not everyday. The car has very little power in the low RPM's, sounds very mild below 4000 rpms, and the PDK-s is tough to handle in traffic.
As you can imagine, once you are really driving it, there is nothing like it in the world. Really, truly an awesome machine. My plan is to get a 991.2 GT3 when they come out and keep the M4 for DD. The perfect combination, IMO. In a couple years, I expect to have a lot more time to go drive the car and hit the track. I did find the m4 I bought on a dealer lot, specc'd exactly as I would have ordered it, so that was rather fortunate. The car is still too new to me to post impressions vs. the Porsche. I'm being careful to even compare them - two very different instruments indeed! I will say that for now, in the way I need car, I am 100x happier with the M4 vs. the GT3. But there is no doubt, another GT3 in my future. |
