Arrived today a bouncing baby M3!

After 2 weeks of build up - the day went great.

The phone integration works brilliantly with my S4; much better than I dared hope. I want to start using the Dragon system built in to read out emails, and dictate replies. All good so far; works.

Dealership really helpful. My Brother (M5 driver) came with me; and was in the process of explaining how some people will rubberneck checking out you car; whilst others will drive like t*ssers; and race you/cut you up. In the 25 mile journey home - both happened. Some pair of idiots in a Mazda MX5 decided to pull out in front of me with tires screeching - I guess to show me how cool they are. I am not used to such attention - my old cars never had that apart from (slightly) the old Alpina B3. I think we are in for fun times - it goes like nothing else!

It is Silverstone. It breaks things up; black with black would have been too much. I did not spec this car, it was in the channel and available to buy just at the end of the 2nd quarter; and had all the right bits on it. I don't mind the colour - black is nice as it blends in; and I have already noticed that the car does attract quite a lot of attention!

I have not driven a manual car since 2003. I know DCT is not manual, but it is not automatic either as no torque convertor. Low speed parking requires more concentration that I am used to; and of course the car does a lot better at overtaking (gingerly right now as only 60 miles on the clock!) when the manual gear changes are used. Got to relearn habits long left behind; no-one I know (me inc) ever really used the paddle gear change on 'normal' BMW autos. but these are all the signs of a 'drivers car'; one that does not do too much for you. Really glad I indulged myself - you only live once don't you?
