Gloss Black Wrapped Stock Diffuser *Pics*
Well, I had an hour to kill and some gloss black vinyl wrap sitting around. I know this isn't for everyone but I figure I should share this for anyone who may be curious.
It's a low cost option and it retains the Kick to Open Trunk feature. I'd prefer to go CF Diffuser but I didn't want to lose the Kick to Open function. I guess another alternative is to buy another member's Jet Black stock diffuser? I took the photos at dusk on my phone. If anyone wants better shots, I'll try to get something in the sun that's less grainy.

Looks killer..
Can you post a couple pics direct on from the back please Also have you considered upgrading to a 90mm exhaust tip?? Would look awesome if your not planning to do an exhaust.. I think it would give a far more aggressive look plus the bonus of losing the chrome .. Complementing the rear which is already looking pretty mean

Here are pics of my '16 Silverstone with the diffuser wrapped in gloass black. I like it as it retains the trunk kick to open feature and ties in with the rest of the black pieces i put on (front grills, badge, CF roof, black wheels, gills, etc.).
I'm not planning on going with aftermarket exhaust as i actually like the stock exhaust, but blacking out the diffuser looks sportier and helps lift the rear end a bit. I have 90 MM tips sitting in the garage, but I'm not sure if I'm going to put them on. I'm afraid of losing the visibility of the quad tips and afterall, this is an M and the tips help distinguish it from the back. Maybe i'll throw them on one day to see how it looks. The other thing i want to do is get a black or CF rear deck lid to tie into the black diffuser and the M4 badge, but i'm not a fan of an of the current M4 spoilers at all. I'd like something simple, small and a little more low key. |

How hard was this to do. Where did you get wrap?

But it was very easy by the looks of it. I watched them and all they did was pop off the 8mm clips that hold the diffuser in place and then wrap it and re-install. Took them about 15 minutes to do and cost me $45. I got it done at a place called sevenwraps outside of Philly. Nice place. Good guys. |

I'm having my SS M3 diffuser painted gloss black at the moment. I want to get the balance of black and carbon bits correct, carbon can be overdone.
So gloss black grilles, side gills and read diffuser, carbon splitters, carbon mirrors and spoiler |

Our cars will likely be twins, although I may just go ahead and get the status gruppe diffuser next time it's on sale.

You're right about the black tips getting drowned out - that's exactly what will happen if you combine it with the rear diffuser. I have black tips on mine, BUT no diffuser. What adds to the tips standing out is the IND color matched reflectors, since it matches the lower portion of the car to the body. Stands out pretty well too in case you want to go that route

This is what I was originally going to do- leave the diffuser stock/Silverstone and put the gloss black tips on for contrast. I decided to wrap the diffuser first and see how it looked. If I didn't like it, it's simple to remove to go back to stock and then I'd just install the exhaust tips. I really like the idea of black tips. But the pictures I've seen with black tips and black/CF diffuser just make the tips disappear. |
