By Special Request: IND Black Chrome Grille Set

BMW’s Edition series was by far one of the most popular looks for the E9x M3 cars, offering a depth and complexity that was impossible with normal painted gloss black grilles.

The Edition grilles featured a “black chrome” appearance - glossy chrome sheen without the glare and dark enough in color to complement BMW's window trim and glazing.

BMW has not offered this finish for the newer chassis, so our paint technicians at IND have invested a considerable amount of time and effort in creating our own version of this beautiful finish. Our finish has been developed in-house with a proprietary process that has not been used previously, outside of IND.

Installed and comparison photos coming shortly

Looks awesome. I loved my blacked chrome grill/gills on my previous E92 m3. I think its more durable against the rock chip than the painted black gloss in the new m performance. I hope it is also true in this finish.

its paint, so no this wont be like the old finish with durability.

looks great but more of a graphite than a black chrome

Cat, is it possible to get it with a double spoke grille without the logo, and side vent trim pieces with no logo ?

What is the cost?

Looks great.

I'd like to see what these look like on a MG car. Almost looks like it'd match the paint.

We'll have it installed on our M4 in the next couple days, and will be able to take some comparison photos versus the Gloss Black.

Unfortunately we do not have a double slat option with no logo for F8x at this time.

Agreed. I have it on my non M E93 and it has a great chameleon like effect in different lighting, from gloss black, to black chrome to a dark nickel finish. I love it!

Thanks for the new offering iND!

We had the chance to take some Black Chrome versus Gloss Black installed comparison shots late last night. What do you think?

Both look great.

I think it would be best on the black sapphire, providing just a bit of contrast.

I like it more. I think it will look mucho better on a lighter color car, like mine.

Cat, would you sell the surrounds only?

What about the side pieces with no logo? (Are they available?)

I think they look better than the gloss black myself and will probably order them when my car gets here.

I have a weird request. Is it possible to get a picture of them next to the black chrome wheels, if you have any of those? I'd like to see if they match the black chrome wheels better than the gloss black grilles.

Thanks!
Brian

As much as we would love to provide the surrounds only, there is no way for us to the chrome rings separate of the full grille set from BMW.

Side markers with no logos are not an option at this time.

Hi Brian, unfortunately we do not have any of our OEM wheels left here at IND. The grilles will not be as dark as the black 437, color should be a bit darker than the silver/grey 437 wheels.

Haha, silly me! Thanks for the description anyway. I may have to swing by the shop to see them in person before deciding.

Thanks for the feedback! We should be able to post up additional installed photos within the next week or so.
