M4 exhaust sound

Bought an external mic and figured I would share with you how it sounds when the mic is placed on the rear bumper right above the diffuser area.

Microphone is: audio Technica Lavalier microphone in combination with GoPro Hero3+. Car is a 2015 bmw M4 with stock exhaust

Nah, they got new tail lights. But since the new LED tail light wiring required a different route than the halogens, they had to route it along side the exhaust piping. This resulted in the exhaust piping to require a larger bend near the exhaust can. This change in back pressure makes the MY2016 sound a bit different.

This recorded a while back but I did get the car back today, finally, feels great to drive the car again

Yep nice job. Only way to capture the sound is external mic. I did the same thing as you with external mic of before and after dp install. Well done Op.

Nicely done.

I plan to make many videos using the same setup. As much as I hate to say this since I am getting the same car in 3 weeks, listening to this really makes me miss my E90. Now before the current owners start flaming me, I sold my E90 M3 last year and am picking up my new F80 on the 28th in Munich

so this is not coming from a sore E9X owner. I know the new F80 is better in every possible way but give credit where it's due. I can't get over the sound of my E90.

Here is a video I made with my E90 back in 2013 doing a Costco run.

how is that for a comparison OP

You are definitely going to have any adjustment period lol. The E92 with aftermarket exhaust has one of THE best sounding V8s I've ever heard. I think in order to perfect the sound of an F8X it needs an air intake and a good exhaust like the AWE.

Still it won't sound like this:
