Dropped a bolt into engine bay
While installing the intake I dropped the bolt into the engine bay. Will the bolt have any possibility of damaging anything?
I assume I can get a replacement bolt at BMW? If so does anyone know the part number? |

There's a guy at work that we call dropnut because while installing a rather large motor onto a piece of equipment he dropped a bolt into the motor and they had to remove the motor and install a new one. From now on you're known as dropnut around here.

You should be able to find it if you take off the engine splash panel. But It's just a bolt so I wouldn't really bother, just get a new one from BMW. You will be fine

I would not start that car until that bolt is out of there!
One .25 part could take out a 70k car if it lands in the wrong spot.

Sadly this. Warranty is more than likely void as well.

Get a magnet on a stick and fish the damn bolt out of there. Sure, it will likely bounce out of the under tray, land in the road somewhere for someone to run over and possibly get a flat but, it could just as easily bounce up into your belt drive and shred your belts. Either way it seems like the smart thing to do is find the bolt.

Yes, get it out. It could drop on the road, hit another M4, damage the oil cooler, and cause total engine failure.
