interesting direction. but wished they carried it farther.
15kg is a start but could have gone to:

-carbon fiber drive shaft
-aluminum (or carbon) subframe parts
-lightening/re-engineering suspension parts
-lighter wheels/rotors
-lighter seats

i think at least a 50kg reduction would have done wonders. and i think reasonably achievable with a reasonable increase in price.

They charge you $12,000 to save 30 lbs? Did the onion start an automotive based site?

Lol, so much of what I was thinking has already been posted. Seriously, Lexus is flat out laughable. 90% of the people on this site could do a better job than the Lexus "F" team. Even their commercials crack me up. So much potential that literally went to shit, they keep using the same engine and trans and likely so much other shit from their other models. Look at the competition right, companies are finally evolving to take on the engineering of M cars, Lexus on the other hand gives no fucks to build fun cars, have they even sold one?

I guess the going rate for weight is $360. Good thing they didn't shave off 200lbs. That could have bought a M3, lol.

I so like that car and the ISF that preceded it, but at 2 tons and an automatic, I just can't do it.

Can they try any harder to copy the M3/4? Good heavens it is so obvious. The car is such a failure and the people at Club Lexus are praising this. LOL.

I guess it must have been huge weight savings not painting the hood, because that exposed CF hood looks like shit

I'm just confused why they weren't building upon the old supra engine technology they have and haven't put out a solid turbo engine that would compete at a performance and mid tier level. Why are they stuck on the v8? Who's running things over there?

why all the NA hate?

i personally don't think the RCF's shortcomings are powerplant related...

it mainly chassis and execution (weight related)

correctly executed, i think that car at 3600-3700lbs would give the M3 a run for its money.

Lexus has officially gone full retard. I test drove an RCF locally for the hell of it with a friend. Aside from the NA engine noise i was disappointed with everything during the test drive in the city through a few traffic lights and then on to the highway. Even the interior felt camry like with the small section of alacantra on the dash above the gauges. When i floored it from a red light the car was slow to accelerate and only became decent around 5000 rpm i had it in the sport setting and was pressing it hard keeping it in lower gears. You can feel every pound of that car and even my friend who is not a car guy who drives an accord said your M4 shouldn't even be compared to the rcf because its not a fair comparison. Even the sales rep that saw my M4 at the end of the test drive said can i see your M4 and after he did said this rcf is gonna be a tough sell to you. If the rcf was awd i would say its a decent competitor to the audi rs5 but i cant even say that.

every time i take my wife's lexus in for service, I see the same RCF sitting outside waiting to be sold. That was 3 or 4 months apart.

i don't get it. Toyota/Lexus spend millions of dollars in carbon fiber research for the LFA yet NONE of it is used in the RC-F.

Hey the 2 door carbon edition is still heavier than the outgoing IS-F 4 door. #Fail
