Thumbs down Crashed my M3 last week and my wife's M235i is in the shop now for a crash last month

About a month ago my wife's M235i was rear ended. I had just finished with most of the mods that week before. Actually the day before she got hit she had parked her car about a foot outside of the garage on accident and then closed the door on the carbon fiber spoiler which broke it off the trunk, but did not damage the spoiler. Then as she sat at a red light some idiot plowed into the back of her car. Luckily she was not hurt badly, just some back pain for about a week. The car was drivable, and it took his insurance a while to process the claim, so we just took it into our repair shop last Monday. Here is the thread along with a few pictures:

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1152347

A few days after dropping her car off mine was destroyed by another idiot! I was driving straight through a green light, and the idiot decided to try to turn left in front of me. Only when she realized that she probably wasn't going to make it she just stopped dead in her tracks and waited for me to hit her. I slammed on the brakes which drastically slowed the car down and reduced the damage, but it was way too late.

The front end of my car is destroyed. I really couldn't believe it. I have never been in an accident in my life. I have never even gotten a speeding ticket! Upon contact the idiot backed up and moved her car away immediately. I realized something was probably wrong, and tried to take a picture, but my old slow phone did not work as quickly as possible so our cars were separated before the picture took. Luckily a good friend, and member of our local bmw club, was close by and saw the whole thing, so if need be I have a witness.

We pulled our cars over to the side of the road, and I immediately called the police. The idiot never asked if I was ok, and never apologized. I asked her if she was ok and she reluctantly said yes. The police arrived on scene quickly. He started with the idiot and took her side of the story. A few minutes later he walked over to me and said I'm just going to let you know that she is blaming this on you, but I can clearly see that it was not your fault. She told him that I was speeding and on the phone and that I ran into her! I was furious, but I kept my cool, and told him the true story.

To make matters worse, the idiot was driving a rental car, had no current insurance card, and was driving on an international drivers license! As of now my insurance in covering everything and going after her. I will not know for a few more days wether I will have to pay the deductable or not! My car had to be towed to the same shop my wife's is at as it was undriveable.

The adjuster came out yesterday. The initial estimate is very close to $10k. You can see from the pictures the front end is pretty messed up, but the suspension is apparently also destroyed, and I hit the curb with the passenger side wheel which tore up the tire and put a huge gouge in the wheel. This car was literally perfect before this. I always hand wash and always park far away. There were no door dings, no scratches, no marks on the wheels.

To make it even worse my wife and I had planned a trip to Hilton Head leaving Lexington on September 3. My wife's birthday is September 5 so this was going to be her present from me, but now we will not have either of our cars to take, so we have had to push the trip back a week! Now I am stuck at home with my POS truck, and an even bigger POS Chevy Cruz!! I have gone from "the stable" to "the struggle". This Cruz is slower than my 4 pound Maltese, and I looked on autotrader and I'm pretty sure it cost less, too! According to Car and Driver the 2013 Chevy Cruze does 0-60 in 10.4 seconds! WTF!!!

Just needed to go on a rant and let out a little frustration. I am of course very happy that neither of us were injured (especially my wife as she is my life), but I am just so upset! I have put so much work into being able to have these cars, update them and put my personal touches on both, and take good care of them, and now it has been taken away by careless people. One of which most likely was driving without insurance!

I will post below pictures of my poor M3.

The first picture is the only one that came out when I tried to take a quick picture of our cars touching. She started out in the left turn lane in front of the Jeep, and then after the collision she immediately backed up into the position you see in the picture.

Wow so sorry to read about your misfortune but luckily both you and your wife are okay and at the end of the day that's all that matters. Material possessions can always be replaced but health not so much so thank God for that. Try to not stress over the vehicles too much now, what's done is done. Hopefully they will be fixed soon enough and you will be able to go on with your life. Thankfully the cop was smart enough to see how the accident occurred and didn't believe that other sorry excuse of a human.

OP - so sorry for the pain. I would not handle well the way that the other driver apparently lied about your accident details. Good for you for keeping a cool head! Glad you and your wife are ok - after all that is the most important thing!

Mann! Thats such a headache

But 0-60 in 10.4sec?
That means our M's can do a 0-60 sprint, to a 180 and back before that can hit 60mph??.....

Sorry to hear OP. Glad you and the wife are ok and came out unscathed. Perhaps a euro bumper, carbon lip and hood could be in the future and get your baby back on the road.

Wow shitty deals. Fortunately no one was really injured. Let me tell you about my Porsche, she was cursed! Twice smashed while parked. Were talking the entire side was fcked while parked at the bank in one incident (and this was only one month after picking it up brand new from Porsche). Front fender, bumper, and headlight jacked up while parked on the street in the other incident. Third time someone nicely left a humongous door ding the size of a baseball while shopping at the mall. All within 11 months and all while parked.

That's a one smart slimy slithering lil scandalous cunt by trying to move the car from the crash scene! Generally, all involved crashed party is to remain as is until a peac officer conduct their investigation. What provoked me is that this lil cunt has the nerve to point the finger at you as the main causes of this accident!?! Plus, she lied and accused you of using a cell phone!! Yeah this broad is a professional liar!!

Generally, you don't pay any deductible unless you're at fault. I hope you squeeze every fukin penny from this cunt for trying to cover her ass when it's clearly her fuk ups trying to make a left turn without yielding to traffic.

Good luck my man and I hope all goes well.

Hey Guys, just wanted to thank everyone for their support! It put a smile on my face this morning reading all the comments, and made this situation a little easier to deal with!

Regarding the 0-60 on the Cruze it is really incredibly slow. The first time I drove it I floored it and a few seconds later I was thinking ok this isnt too bad I must be around 60 or so. Look down at the speedo and the thing is going 35 MPH lol! I really couldn't believe it. The "pull" from 40-60 is laughable. I looked it up, and the thing has a 4 cylinder with like 130 hp! Really couldn't believe they make cars with such shitty engines these days. I might get my Vbox out this weekend and see if I can match C&D times haha!

We had a Corolla rental a few months back and it was actually pretty nice for what it was. It had decent acceleration, tight handling and light weight, comfortable and supportive seats, and also really good headlamps. This Cruze just really sucks in pretty much every category. The seats are terrible and made of some shitty vinyl, and then for some reason they put cloth on half of the dash board. This car has 33k miles, and the black cloth on the dash looks like Filthy Nightmare Hotel Bedding. I do not want to know what the hell is mixed in.

The one thing I will give the Cruze is that the bluetooth compatibility is better than my M3, and maybe even better than the extended bluetooth on the NBT in my wife's car (I don't really play around with this stuff too much more interested in the drive). Just for fun I tested it out and hooked up my phone, and it had no problem displaying all calls, contacts, texts etc as well as streaming my music and also playing Pandora. My car does all of this, but it is more difficult to connect, and the information displayed usually does not work properly. With the Cruze you can basically control everything through the display that you can control through the phone.

As far as upgrades for my car, I am considering the OEM front carbon fiber splitter, but I am really not sure if I like the look. I do have the mirror caps and spoiler on both my car and my wife's (and oem cf interior on mine), but I can't decide if I like the look of the splitter. If someone has a good picture on LeMans Blue that would be awesome!

I am doing a few different upgrades on my wife's car that I had planned on doing, but now I will at least save a little on install. I am doing the M-performance exhaust, M etched chrome tips, and the M performance rear diffuser with custom paint (mostly alpine white with the "fins" painted gloss black). The rear of the M235i was the weakest point for me, so I think this along with the CF spoiler will make it look great. Really excited to piss off the neighbors with the exhaust as well. They are going to shit the bed when they realize both of our cars are loud now lol!

Once again thank you guys for all the great support!!!!

First off, glad you and your wife are both okay from your accident. HOWEVER it's time to sue the rental car company for giving a car to an uninsured driver. I'd be willing the bet that if you get proper representation you'll have your claim settled incredibly fast. A PR release about how "X" company gave an uninsured driver a car is a nightmare for them, so the'll settle fast.

Damn I feel for you having both cars down. I'm sure both babies will be back in no time and as shiny as ever. Fortunately it seems both were just cosmetic hits with very little bodily harm which really has no value. Best of luck with the repairs.
