M Stripe in Carbon roof
Hey guys!
I have been drooling over the F80 and F82 since the initial Pebble beach photos were released of the M4. Something that really stood out to me was the M Stripe that was shown in the carbon roof. I personally really liked the stripe but every production F80/F82 I've seen doesn't have it.... except one. It looks like one of the forum members here took delivery of a gorgeous Austin Yellow M4, and his has the M Stripe!! Pennzoil, If you happen to read this, would you explain to me how your roof has the stripe? My F80 is on order and I wish it came with it. I searched for this topic but didn't see anything. Hope I'm not asking something that has been explained over and over. Thank you for any insight!! |

I might be wrong about that stripe. Looks like it is not intrinsically part of the roof. http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=878835 |

The M4 Concept that was unveiled at Pebble had the translucent stripe decals then clear coated over. It's also possible that the M4 Concept stripes are actual candy paint, but I don't see the point of doing that when a decal can give you the same result once it's clear coated.
If you want these stripes on your own CF roof, it's not too difficult for a body shop to accomplish this. If you don't care about the stripes being smooth with the roof, just source some translucent decals from a sign shop and stick them on yourself. There will be a "step", but will be significantly cheaper while being reversible. |

Awesome! Thanks for the answers guys. I may have some made just to see how they look, or I'll check with EAS or others to see if there are some available like Blindside_137 mentioned!

I doubt you could make a single one for yourself for $75.
I'm not a buyer for one, but if a cheap track cut out decal in die-cast vinyl is $5-$8, then this can be $75. It's not like it's $175 or $275. If IND had made this, then yeah it probably would be. |

And I stand with you that I'm not a buyer for one either. I guess it's a good thing that they are $75. Otherwise we might see more and more of these on people's cars... on Civics even. |
