So what will we call the Porsche Turbo models in the future? The Porsche Turbo Turbo?? Lol!

Also, I really am loving the grill rear deck lid design on these new 991.2's. Looks so much better! I also am loving all of the little design changes from the bumpers to the exhaust tips and such. However, I can already imagine these new Turbo engines don't sound anything as good as the 3.8L NA Flat 6, but we shall see, after all look what Alfa Romeo was able to accomplish with its V6 in the Guilia, but then again I have never thought that the Porsche TTS sounds all that good either. Then again, Porsche stated this in the article: " We also have a new sports exhaust system that sounds really good. Yes, it’s different to a normally aspirated engine, but it sounds better than the 911 Turbo, more emotional.'"

I'm not sure what to make of it and what will come of the porsche aftermarket tuning scene when they're pumping out turbo engines. I'm excited to see it though for sure.

Well the Macan S is already a 3.0TT and the Macan Turbo is a 3.6TT. I don't think the naming system will change, they will just throw more power at the .2 Turbo to keep the gap wide.

Sounds good but not all turbos are created equal. The difference in these turbos and the TT and TTS turbos is like the difference between iron and ceramic brakes. The TT and TTS have variable vane turbos while the ones in these engines are old technology fixed vane turbos. Here is what Porsche says about VTG in the TT and TTS.

I don't think so. The TTS will still be in a different league performance wise.

More new info. At least these new Porsche a Turbo engines are still relatively "high" revving.

Don't know if they are still doing this but the TT motor was all hand built and the std 911 was built via assembly line robots.

wish he would get on the car so we can hear what it sounds like. instead of hearing a small part and trying to figure out if this car sounds good or not.

Interesting analysis. =)

By the way, will bigger displacement add extra sound? (or at least add extra intensity to the exhaust sound?)

Cheers Neil.

Just Had a great weekend in it and some proper spirited driving in sp+ at full chat. Such an amazing machine. Could do with a bit more mid range grunt that's all...
