Hey guys. I read the forum like everyone here and I always understood that our cars had TPMS....
But, I recently read that Canadian BMWs might be differently equipped when it comes to wheels and TPMS. I am looking at buying aftermarket wheels (avantgarde M359s) and am wondering if I need to buy TPMS sensors with my wheels... Do I? I currently have 220Ms and I don't even know if my wheels currently have TPMS since the valves look like the normal rubber ones... So questions ask themselves... 1. Do I have TPMS? 2. Do I have those butterfly sensors inside my wheels? 3. If I have the sensors, can I swap them from my my 220Ms to the M359s? 4. If I don't have the sensors in my 220Ms and I buy some and I put them in the M359s, will my car detect them? Please provide as much detail as you can in your answer so I can understand what kind of equipment I have in my wheels...

There are no TPMS sensors in Canadian model. None on my 135i and M3. However you do have to reset the pressure monitor system overtime you swap out your rims.

There is no equipment in your wheels. The onboard diagnostics detect the low pressure in the tire by sensing a different wheel speed than the other wheels, because the low pressure tire now has a smaller rolling diameter.
