M3 is making a ticking sound

I have heard about this rod bearing issue with the m3 and I noticed some ticking and it has been getting louder. I was just wondering if it could be from oil or is it just normal for the engine to tick when its cold or even 210 f.
My car is a 2009 m3 with 48500 miles on it

How about a video? All noises are not created equal.

Oh and this will probably happen to you...

Sounds like s65 injectors to me. Does not sound like some of the rod bearing videos I have heard.

I listened to your video, the sound is absolutely normal sound for cold start.
However after 2 minutes or so the sound should suddenly change to very quiet.
It's for heating up the catalyst convertors in the exhaust quickly where they work efficiently to filter emissions. It's a car regulations requirement.

-If your car does not stop doing that, it could have been 3rd party code flashed. Unfortunately, there are too many 3rd party code can "tuners" motivated by fast bucks who persuade people to tweak their OEM settings with little foresight how it will affect the engine in the longterm. I would flash it back to OEM. They're usually sponsoring forum like this one and use it to market to more unsuspecting people.

That said, your ticking sound is NOT related to rod bearing issues whatsoever. So just do your detective work and i'm sure it's some secondary tuning or some tweak.

Yah that's a normal cold start noise. Mine does that also but quickly fades away once warmed up.

The only two topics discussed on this forum is either rod bearings and extended warranty. This section is becoming boring every day. No wonder why many members hang out in F8X M3 section...

The topics go around and around because folks are more than able to find this site via some search engine on the internet, Google, Bing, whatever ... but when they arrive here, make an account, they become fuckall stupid and forget there is another search facility.
