Breaking: KW offers GTS-spec 3 way ClubSport to M4 owners!

KW Automotive GmbH has enjoyed a long-standing history of success as a suspension manufacturer. The company’s commitment to excellence extends beyond simply designing some of the highest quality suspension available, but also to creating a strong supply chain that enables clients to easily obtain, service, and maintain KW product.

It is of course no accident that KW was chosen by BMW M and Mercedes AMG to be an Original Equipment supplier for both of these prestigious marques, and as we move forward into the 21st century, KW’s relationship with M in particular continues to grow.

Many BimmerPost members have already seen the incredible 3 way adjustable suspension found on the M4 GTS, and have witnessed that car’s blistering 7:28 lap time around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, but many do not know that KW is the official supplier to BMW for this amazing second iteration of the GTS.

As of today, KW’s 3 way adjustable ClubSport coilovers (found on the M4 GTS) are not only available to the public, but are also available from a select group of KW’s top tier vendors at a reduced price. The new MSRP places the 3 way ClubSport closer in price to the 2 way adjustable ClubSport, enabling more M4 drivers to enjoy some of the magic that is available in the M4 GTS.

Nice. Is this a differently tuned kit compared to their regular Clubsport 3-way?

So this is the same exact suspension used on the GTS? Like exactly to spec?

I don't have confirmation just yet that the valving pre-sets are identical, but the parts themselves are the same. I'll post more information on valving and spring rate as soon as I have it from my contacts in Germany.

One of the bigger pieces of news to this story is that the pricing for the 3 way has dropped by nearly $1,000, placing the 3 way just slightly higher in price than the 2 way ClubSport. Instead of going with a 2 way ClubSport, one can now use the same hardware found on the GTS for a very similar price point.

How street friendly do you think it will be in terms of smoothness and noises (clunking, etc.)

I really hope the Bilstein B-16 damptronics will be ready soon.

Two of my top options right now for replacing the stock adaptive suspension.

Also, are they only for the M4 or both M4 and M3?

How are these different from KW's H.A.S. system?

I haven't done mine yet but I will soon and now with this I'm unsure what to choose from.

HAS is a spring sleeve kit, the club sports are a true coilover

The NVH should be relatively low- from an NVH standpoint, KW's camber plates are among the best, simply because of the high quality components used within. Spring binding is usually kept to a minimum.

The ride will certainly be more firm that factory, but I personally enjoy a sports car that feels connected with the road. The overall ride harshness can be tuned and adjusted, by making some adjustments to the dampers.

These will work for both the M3 and M4.

Correct! KW's HAS kit is a height adjustable sleeve that slips over the OE BMW damper. That enables you to retain OE in-cabin adjustability, while having some height adjustment as well. Because of the limitations of the OE BMW damper, the performance will remain limited, and will not compare to the ClubSport products.

KW's ClubSport kit is a full replacement damper, with rebound, high speed compression, and low speed compression adjustability. The damper also has an external reservoir, helper springs, and camber plates. The level of performance over the factory suspension is dramatically increased.

The difference between the Clubsport 3-way and the HAS is like the difference between a Filet Mignon and slice of Bologna.

AGREED!!

I will be choosing a true coilover this spring when I add Extreme performance tires.

This system and the upcoming Bilstein Damptronics are on the top of my list.

IMO, BMW didn't do a very good job with the damping tuning of the stock shocks, that is why I wouldn't go the HAS route.

I'm waiting for those too, if you look at the other thread, they are saying April release date now.

The 3-ways of adjustment are as follows:
- Compression low speed
- Compression high speed
- Rebound

BTW, the stock imagery above seems to be the photos of the 2-way version.

The Variant 3 is a more street oriented coilover, with a progressive rate spring, and no camber plate.

The Clubsport includes a shorter damper body (so a lower ride height will maintain suspension travel), linear rate springs with helper springs, a camber plate, and different valving.
